    As a doctor working in healthcare and someone not formally trained in leadership techniques, i found this book an accessible introduction to management. As the authors suggest, perhaps others more of a background knowledge would dip in and out of chapters, rather than reading the whole book, which can be a little repetitive. The chapter on "emotional intelligence" illustrates the lack of a precise definition for this construct. I would have liked an expanded version of the final chapter as to how to operationalise the principles of the S,O,I approach in teams in a non-corporate environment (eg "medical" as opposed to executive healthcare), where resource and expertise are perhaps currently lacking. Overall a really useful way to assimilate the authors' 30+ years of leadership experience in a time-efficient manner.
