About the author
I have enjoyed being a professional author for many years and being part of the team for textbook "Medical Terminology for Health Professions" is a very special undertaking for me. By working together, and with the support of our publisher, Carol and I have established a creative synergy that has enabled us to achieve our two main goals for this book.
Our primary goal is to enable students to learn medical terms as easy and effectively as possible. We do this through organizing the text by body systems, emphasizing word parts, and generously using full color illustrations. Additional aids, that accommodate varied learning styles, are included in the StudyWARE CD. Here, through a variety of formats, and games, learning fun becomes more fun.
Our second goal, which is of equal importance, is to assist instructors by providing them with quality learning aids. (1) "The Instructors Manual" includes classroom activities, such as "medical mysteries," quizzes, and tips for teachers. (2) Power Points presentations reinforce terms and can be used to correct textbook exercises in class. (3) Animations clarify content and add interest. (4) The Computerized Test Bank speeds creation by the instructor of quality tests. (5) An audio CD is a valuable aid to teach students correct pronunciations of complex terms.
We welcome suggestions from students and teachers as to additional ways in which the book came be made even more user friendly.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2015At first I had ordered the wrong book. Double check yourself before pressing that "order" button.
I meant to get the course book, not the "work book" but in the end it all turned out well. This book is excellent for giving you more practice with medical terms. The main book also has review questions so it's up to you if you want this one. I was going to return it but seeing the good in getting the wrong book and how helpful it actually is, I decided to keep it. :)
Hope this helped!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2012Thos book has very good, simple explanations for medical terms. I worked in an emergency department as a medical scribe. It was my first job in the medical field and although I was taught/ picked up a lot, I didn't understand everything. This book has good tricks to understanding terms by breaking them down into the root words. I had to buy it for a medical terminology class (prereq for PA school) and am glad I read it; I'll be better prepared for PA school.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2015This is a great book for learning your Medical Terminology! The CD in the back plays games and learning lessons which really help you remember the words and the correct spelling. It has helped me to do better and learn more quickly this challenging course. Thank you! Dawn Brown
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2016Had to buy this for class. I really found it useful. If you get this book, make sure it has the disc with it. It is the best, most useful tool I have had in any class. It has crossword puzzles, word searches, practice quizzes and memory games. I barely had to study after going through a chapter, using the disc and answering the questions at the end of each chapter. I will be keeping this for reference material.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2014I like this book because it is thorough, easy to understand, and the pictures are clear, colorful, and detailed; however my one complaint is that for the price I paid I feel the book is "cheap quality" because it is spiral and the pages rip VERY easily whenever I move the book around. I have quite a few pages taped up in the book. The book also comes with a CD which I find to be helpful in learning.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2012Ann Ehrlich and Carol L. Schroeder should pay me for this glowing review ...
this book is a great reference manual for pros and students alike! Why?
First the Amazon price offering is decent and the manual materials has Good Flow!
This 7th edition is spiral bound and ready for quick page turning, light and large page layout helps in low light reading - Excellent Graphics and support materials.
Grab a copy for the reference value alone - should last an entire career!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 20141. To purchase this book is ridiculously expensive for a bunch of terms you can google. These are what I consider "glossary words." Words that just require a definition, and don't require much background info. I will admit that some of the descriptions are helpful.
2. I'm very grateful that Amazon gives a renting option.
3. This book (for my online class) is basically useless for me. If you want just the pure definitions in an online flashcard format, google: "quizlet Medical Terminology Ehrlich." They are flashcards for you to study, and if you find the right ones, some users literally type out EVERY term for you.
Though, I must emphasize that this was the case for my specific class. Some classes depend on this book heavily; it depends on your course.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2014I was very pleased with the Studyware CD-ROM that was included with this book. It is making my course work so much easier and I am able to better remember what has been covered in the chapter. Also I have this information available for future reference. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Textbook
I needed this book for my Anatomy and Physiology class and it was amazing. It helped with studying and the CD at the back is the best study tool they could come up with.
The only negative I have about it is that a lot of the times little white pieces of paper fell out of it after using it a lot. Not a flaw by Amazon, all my classmates had this issue and they got it from different places.
But if you are interested or stuyding, this is the best. And Amazon always has the best delivery time, even with the super savings!

It was exactly what I thought it was going to be. A large medical terminology textbook. It's clear, concise, and educational.
