- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2023Very good read. There’s a lot to miss if you’re not paying very close attention (due to how the documents were preserved, there are segment missing) but most of the information is in here.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2020Loved this! There has been so much untruth told about Ed thanks to the movies and rumors. John Borowski always uses facts; legal paper, police documents, photographs, diaries, newspapers and so on and simply lays the information out there. He even lets the reader make the decision if Gein is a monster or not. No bias, my favorite thing about Borowski as an author.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2019Priceless compilation of medical and legal reports. Forget what you read about the case. Police interviews-what is asked (lots of leading) and the responses get at the horrible truth of this case. The art stinks. It's sensationalistic and does not fit with what is actually a really nice reference book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2016Very expensive for a chance to look at Ed Gein in his own words.
This is all the documents covering the case but...
It would be nice to see some real psychiatric reports,
but there was never really any evaluation or treatment plan,
just warehousing until he died.
Would be more interesting to hear evaluation and profiles from professionals and
hear the competing discussions about the behaviors.
If you are looking for any insight from Ed Gein, you won't get any.
He functions on the level of a toddler.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book for Gein completists
Interesting book featuring copies of actual documents concerning the Gein case. The interrogation interviews are quite hard to follow - transcribed from an audio tape that has since gone AWOL. A fair bit of the original audio was apparently inaudable, some of the pages appear to in the wrong order, some answers are consequently missing, couple that with Gein's often unintelligable responses and you have quite a challenging read! Some interesting things though - When asked if you pronounce his name 'Gein' or 'Gien', he responds that he always pronounced it 'Gien'. So that means the vast majority of people who refer to him mispronounce his name.
