    A little over a year ago I started working at a large financial company, and I had no experience in finance (I'm a programmer). My boss said that quite a few financial firms give this book to their interns/new-starts as a quick-start guide or refresher guide on basic finance.

    Having never taken economics, I found this book very easy to get through and relatively entertaining to read. If you like it, I'd recommend moving on to the Forbes/CFA-Institute book afterward - I found that one a little more genuinely fun to read and more practical for the average person - but it does more time to get through.
