- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2014This is a well written, easy to follow book full of great information. It def. helped me find my child's triggers. In the end, it was simpler than we thought. My child's teacher noticed a difference almost immediately. I have lent my copy to several friends who loved it and noticed a significant diff. in their children when applying the methods set forth in the book. I have also purchased a few extra copies for friends and family members to keep as their go to source of a wholesome, safe, healthy alternative to the drugs our society seems too eager to fill our children will. This works. It just takes time to read and take notes, a small effort to change your habits at home, and a lifetime of rewards for you and your child. By working together and teaching them to manage their diets, explaining as you go, it becomes a journey they will remember forever, and a way of life they can adapt to before they grow up and become successful adult members of society. Start now.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2023I purchased this book for information as I have a family member with an ADHD tendency. Very helpful information.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2010I purchased this book after my son's teacher was concerned about his behavior in class and the likelihood of being unable to go on to the next grade. He had issues with paying attention in class and focusing on his work. I had come to the decision to take him to the doctor, but searched the internet for help first. I came across this book and ordered it. It has changed him for the good! We now give him 1 1/2 tsp. of omega oil daily and avoid giving him any products with partially hydrogenated oil or high fructose corn syrup. It was an adjustment to get used to because we did not realize just how many products (especially those marketed for kids) contained those ingredients. We've learned the more ingredients listed on a package, the less healthier it is. We try to avoid foods with preservatives, but it is hard. The extra work that goes into making his lunch every day (because the school lunches are full of sugar and processed foods) and planning our meals is hard, but definitely worth it for him to be excelling in school!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2015This works! It is not easy. It definitely takes commitment and it is certainly INCONVENIENT, but it works. My 5 year old son was having serious issues in school. I received calls daily and the school asked me to have him evaluated so that the school district to provide a para. For two weeks, I had to be the para. I would sit with my son for two hours every school morning which was certainly not sustainable because I need to make a living. But without me, my son would throw himself in the middle of the circle, have outbursts, and become verbally abusive. He told his teacher that she was fired during the very first week of school. He poured blocks over his classmate's head. It was a nightmare. I bought this book and we did see a difference within the first 18 days. Eliminating dairy is the hardest part! Cheese is everywhere - ice cream, pizza, burgers, macaroni, lasagna, baked ziti, turkey sandwiches and other foods that we loved. But we have found substitutes in soy cheese and cashew cheese. My 5 year old is not perfect!!!! He still has his same attention seeking personality. But he is getting better with coping with his negative feelings. Try the method and be disciplined about it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2007This is an interesting book, but has some pretty far out suggestions. One big problem, getting a young child to take fish oil and flax seed oil without spitting it back at you. Lets just say he refuses to drink orange juice now. We have been using the new diet for about a month, but I can't see that much difference, he is still bouncing off the walls most of the time.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2009This book was more than my husband & I hoped for. It brought our daughter back to us. The last 2 years have been full of disrespect, constant arguing, & incredibly explosive anger for no reason. Our daughter is 17 & was even put in 2 different behavioral teen facilities & spent a week in a juvenile detention unit(for running way from the behavioral facility). She came home on a ankle tether & we ordered the book. We all did the cleanse & are doing the "diet", so she would not feel like an outsider & it was something to do as family. We all feel better & have more energy & are enjoying eating healthy. My husband has some health issues involving pain. His pain level has dropped so much, he has cut the amount of pain medication he was on, by more than half per day. We are cooking together, buying new cook books & surfing the net for more information. Dr Robert DeMaria, you are awesome!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2011My son has struggled with ADHD for a very long time. This book was a life saver and any parent that has their child on pharmaceutical drugs to treat this condition needs to listen to the advice in this book. I successfully have switched my son off of his Adderall drug medication onto a vitamin and oil regimen. Dr Bob is a doctor with a wealth of knowledge and experience with all conditions anyone might have. His website druglessdoctor . com has videos, blogs, store, etc to help in a journey to cure yourself naturally. I would strongly encourage anyone who wants to get off their medications and obtain a healthy lifestyle to read any of his multiple books or visit his website.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2013The book was an easy read and really got me thinking about all the things that are added to food for shelf life, taste, etc. I think the way he wants us to eat is a little bit hard considering all the boxed and canned food that is out there, but little by little we are adapting to his ways and I feel that my son is focusing better at school work now. I think the things Dr. Bob says about food is true and I would recommend this to any one to try. You can't help but to be healthier when you implement what he says to eat.
