- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2023I ordered 3 of the same book from 3 different Amazon Sellers. I have no clue whose who. Two were top grade. The third only had one very small gift message which was explained so all the books were good price, condition, and arrived timely.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2019Very interesting and informative.
I live close to the park and was aware of some of the searches as they were happening. I enjoyed getting more information about them.
It was satisfying to get background and on-the-scene details of the searches.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2015I live within a few miles of the GSNP and have heard Dwight McCarter at seminars, so this book was a must. Very interesting, as I remember some of the incidents mentioned, and very informative also. Two thumbs up for the folks that go out on such searches ... they are a very special people!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2022The writing is a little rough at the beginning, but matures and improves as the book moves along. I felt like it tracked with the Ranger as he matured in Search and Rescue. I volunteer with Search and Rescue and the book was valuable to me as a learning tool and as an example of persistence in SAR. Recently I was called out on a search for a missing person and I found myself thinking how to apply lessons from the book to our SAR mission.
If you like stories of survival and the wilderness, this is a great book to learn how to manage yourself in the wilderness. It’s also a great reminder of how much has been learned about outdoor adventures from clothing to weather forecasting to how to stay found in the wilderness.
It’s not a long book, but an interesting one. I plan to tell my fellow SAR members about this book.
