- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2014As a student in ECE, this book might seem old or outdated at first glace but it's definitely not. This has become my best resource when observing a child with Sensory Integration issues. They give lengthy examples of different family and children situations and also list out intervention guidelines. I bought it for a class last year but will definitely be keeping this for future use.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2012This book is wonderful at explaining sensory integration and self regulation. While focusing on Infants and toddlers, these approaches and explanations can be expanded to focus on older children as well to understand sensory integration problems! It is a quick, easy read! Recommend for anyone working with children with sensory integration!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2009This little book packs a wealth of information. I find it particularly useful when helping parents understand sensory integration, followed by planning activities that will be helpful for their child. This book covers a wide range, from childcare providers to college coursework. Elizabeth Francis, Special Educator, Pediatrics
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2017Wonderful book to review or learn from for the first time. Clear, nicely written, engaging.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2009Great information, but this book is probably more geared towards Occupational therapists etc. Although I am a pharmacist, it's probably too much technical information for me as a Mom. I would probably recommend "The Out of Sync Child" instead.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2015great book for early childhood educator
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2015A must-have for professionals, parents, caregivers, and anyone seeking basic yet thorough understanding of A. Jean Ayers' Sensory Integration theory and treatment approach. The revision includes more current information affirming Ayres' groundbreaking original theories and strategies to treat what Ayres identified as "sensory integration dysfunction". Ayres' theories and treatment approaches have withstood tests of time, and gained credibility in the face of early naysayers who criticised her work as 'vodoo-ish' (I was a practitioner at the time that her theories and approaches were first introduced into the field of occupational therapy).
