In addition to boating (including details on launches and anchorages), the Muellers highlight opportunities for bicycling, camping, hiking, picnicking, scuba diving, beachcombing, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing. They offer their personal tips on when to go, how to get around (the ferry system, simplified!), and how best to enjoy the islands.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2019Misplaced my original 12 year old version. Glad to have the helpful information again!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2019I bought this as background information to a 3-day trip to San Juan Island. This book was information-overload for my purposes. Most, if not all photos are black&white, not very enticing. The detail is dry-bones, useful but not enticing. Could be useful, if one was planning a longer trip to the San Juan Islands. Not very helpful for such a brief visit.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2014I really like this book!! It is a great referance book for any local or out of town sailor/boater wanting to sail the San Juans!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2016Gave me a great overview of the Road Scholar trip I took on the San Juans.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2010I bought this book and Moon Guide "San Juan Islands" and the Moon book is much better. They cover many of the same places, and the Moon book has a lot of additional information on other things to see and do and how to get around.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2014Great little handbook to have on board your boat. Plus, generally a quick history of the San Juans
