About the author

Watchman Nee was born in 1903 in Swatow, China as an answer to his mother's prayer. Having already borne two daughters, she prayed that if God should give her a son, she would give him back to God. As the boy grew up, he showed every sign of promise except he had no interest in things spiritual. It was not till he was seventeen years of age that he was met by the Lord. He knew at that time that he must accept Christ Jesus as his Savior, yet he struggled over the necessity of surrendering his life to the Lord. The love of Christ finally overwhelmed him and he capitulated to Christ. This was on April 29, 1920. He had such a love for the Word of God that he studied it almost incessantly, so within a very short period he had read the whole Bible several times. He began to witness for Christ to his school mates and soon earned the nickname of "the preacher". In searching the Scripture, he (with a few other believers) discovered 'the simplicity and purity that is towards Christ.' He determined to follow the Word of God explicitly and nothing but the Word.
In 1927 he began his life work in Shanghai, where he was able to practice the vision which the Lord had shown him in the Word. He understood that the eternal purpose of God is Christ and His Church. Through the mighty working of the Holy Spirit and the faithful ministry of this servant of God, this testimony spread over the vast land of China.
In 1949 the Communists took over China. Knowing what would be waiting for him back home, he nonetheless felt strongly his responsibility toward God and His Church. So he returned to China from Hong Kong in 1950. In April of 1952 he was seized and put in prison. He was later falsely accused as a master spy and was sentenced to twenty years of imprisonment. In prison he was not allowed to do anything but what was assigned him by prison authority. At the expiration of his sentence term, he was not released, and the news arrived quickly that he died faithful to the Lord.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2024Purchased this book to participate in a small group at my church.
This is perhaps the most heady, spiritually deep work I have read in a long time.
It is the kind of material that you read slowly, with intention, and then go back and read it again and then just one more time. I spent a couple of weeks just in the first chapter digesting the content, journaling about it, and using that material as reflective prayer. The book reads like a quiet but intense conversation that you cannot get enough of and want to talk about with someone.
This is an excellent read on discipleship, spiritual maturity in the faith, and for any sincere group of people who want to deepen their understanding of walking the walk in Christian faith. HIGHLY recommend!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2019Watchman Nee's classic hits the 3 major themes of Paul's letter to the Believers in Ephesus. If you a Christian, then: 1. You are seated with Christ in the heavenly places (Our rest in Christ). 2. Our call to walk in a manner worthy of the calling we've received (the calling is spelled out in the first 3 chs. of Ephesians) - Eph. 4:1, 17, 5:8 and other references by Paul to our "walk," that is, our lifestyle. 3. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Eph. 6:10 & following. A short book, not an exegesis, but a good framework for understanding the apostle Paul's letter to the Ephesian Believers and applying it in our lives.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2023This book is so tiny, but full of so much and very impactful. We are using this for a small group and there are ladies of all different places in their walk that take away parts of this study. Some who have read Ephesians several times and never took this exact perspective. Another lady had decided it will be her staple gift to friends and family for a while because it's just sooooo good.

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked it so much I bought copies to give away.
Watchman Nee was a very successful Christian leader in procommunist China who later died for his faith. He helped to establish many hundreds of new churches. He explains the profound but essential Christian truths in a clear and practical way. Reading his books has helped me to mature as a Christian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sit, Walk, Stand
The media could not be loaded.
In "Sit," Nee explains the importance of resting in the finished work of Christ, understanding our position in Him. "Walk" emphasizes the practical outworking of our faith in daily life, encouraging believers to live in a manner worthy of their calling. Finally, "Stand" focuses on the spiritual warfare that Christians face, teaching how to stand firm against the enemy.
Nee's clear and concise writing, combined with deep spiritual insights, makes this book a must-read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of their faith and walk with God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sit Walk Stand, a master piece by Watchman Nee.
I love Watchman Nee's books, and Sit, Walk and Stand was one of the first books of his I read in my early days as a believer. Its a very simple but profound story about salvation which I would recommend for some one who wants to learn about about salvation. I've bought so many and lent them to friends and don't get them back, I would say I've given them away and not lent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, but scriptures are not…
Great book, but the verses that publishers had chosen are not from KJV. Just like Nee’s other books (I bought 6 in one go), the scripture verses are either from ASV or NIV.
