Prentice Hall Health's Question & Answer Review of Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science, Third Edition, has been designed to help examination candidates to prepare fob national certification or state licensure examinations. It is also a useful tool for practicing clinical laboratory scientists as a source of "refresher" information. The excellent reception received by the first two editions of the book spurred the writing of this third edition. Educators and students alike have commented that the strength of the book is in the paragraph explanations that accompany each answer. In this way users of the book can more easily augment their knowledge or clear up misunderstandings.
To enhance the third edition and to make it even more valuable to users, new features have been added and some changes have been made. A color plate of 60 full-color pictures has been included to provide the user with experience in answering questions based on a color photo. Additionally, the 200-question self-assessment test has been revised and a 100-question self-assessment test for the CD-ROM has been developed as mechanisms for final evaluation of one's knowledge, thus allowing for the identification of one's strengths and weaknesses while there is still time to improve.
The book contains more than 2000 multiple choice questions that cover all the areas commonly tested on national certification examinations and state licensure examinations. The majority of questions have been revised or updated based on current clinical laboratory practice, terminology, and taxonomy. Additional case study questions have been incorporated into this edition. Many of the paragraph explanations have been revised, and matching puzzles have been added to the CDROM to further assess knowledge. Overall, this book provides the essential components needed in an effective medical technology examination review book. We hope that you find this book and the accompanying CD-ROM useful, and we wish you success with the examination and with your career as a clinical laboratory scientist.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2011Although I am currently still waiting on clearance from the American Medical Technologist Association, I have been given the green light to study up for the test. Regardless of not knowing everything in detail, this study manual using detailed explanations to describe the answers as well as the logic behind them. It probably is even that much more effective coupled with the CD that comes with it (however my book does not have it). All in all this book, so far has proved to be a reliable aid in study for this soon upcoming test.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2010I rate this book with high respection. Very good date arrangment and helped me to prepare my ASCP BOR well. Though I only finger through a little bit and then went for my ASCP BOR and passed it kust one shoot, I still recommand people who are nervous about preparing the ASCP BOR examination using this book as finall review after you have re-read all your lecture notes. Those are the most basic and important parts.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2009This is a great help to anyone trying to study for a test. The answer reviews are right there with the questions so you don't have to keep going to the back of the book. I'm using it as a study aid along with Clinical Laboratory Science Review (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review). They are both a great help.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2010This book was listed as used but, it looks new. It's in great condition and will be a wonderful tool for my review. I like the Q & A with an explanation for both correct and incorrect answers. No complaints here.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2013It did help me with my Exam preparation for AAB and ASCP.
Wonderful, informative, easy to understand book.
Definitely recommended to friends.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2009There is a newer, updated version of this book. Also I gave it a lower review because I like the book by Harr better.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2010I bought this study guide to help me study for my certification test. I was already pretty confident in my learned knowledge, but I knew that these tests can be very difficult and I needed all the help I could get. I started to read these questions and noticed that some of the answers were wrong. I become more and more prevelant so quit using this book to study from. I was very dissappointed in this book. In my opinion, the latest edition on the ASCP BOR is the only study guide you need, all others are a waste of money.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2013this book was cheap & in very good conditions & also it is very good book for Clinical laboratory scientist exam
