Peoplemaking Paperback – January 1, 1972

4.5 out of 5 stars 68 ratings

All of the ingredients in a family that count are changeable and correctable - individual self-worth, communication, system, and rules - at any point in time. Any piece of behavior, at a moment in time, is the outcome of the four-way interplay of the person's self-worth and body condition of that moment, his interaction with another, his system, and his place in time and space and situation. To explain his behavior, something needs to be said about all these facts, not just one, and then consider how each part influences the other.

VIRGINIA SATIR (1916-1988) was a pioneering psychotherapist, lecturer, and author; she was internationally renowned for her work, especially in the field of family therapy. Considered one of the most distinguished therapists in recent history and selected to be on the boards of numerous prestigious councils, Satir was also known for her Change Process Model, still embraced today. Time magazine once wrote of her, "She can fill any auditorium in the country." She cofounded the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, California, the first organization to establish a formal training program in family therapy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The basis of most modern day parenting books
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 5, 2016
Virginia Satir was a master in her field. Once you have read this book you realise that it forms the basis for many (much longer) parenting books coming out nowadays. This book should be handed out to all new parents at hospital right after birth.

5.0 out of 5 stars D'occasion très bien traité
Reviewed in France on March 14, 2016

5.0 out of 5 stars people making de Virginia Satir
Reviewed in France on January 16, 2018
