- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2017I first read this book in the 1990's and it was the first money management tool that I found to be totally useful. I will be forever indebted to Mary Hunt for sharing her journey
to financial freedom in an open and honest way that made so much sense to me. I have
given the book to many people and I can honestly said say that those who chose to use it found the same peace.

Too many women feel like they lack the know-how to take control of their financial lives. But it's not the level of their knowledge that's the problem, says personal financial expert Mary Hunt; it's their lack of confidence. Being in debt isn't a money problem--it's an attitude problem. And Hunt is here to help women develop a confident, capable attitude toward money so that they can take control of their finances.
Using the lessons she's learned from her own hard-fought battle with debt, Hunt empowers women to develop nine essential money habits, including giving, saving, investing, rejecting unsecured debt, preparing for emergencies, getting what you pay for, and more. She also includes a six-week action plan to help women get started right away.

My Review:
It's fun ready Mary Hunt's take on finances, debt, and getting a handle on it. She doesn't just address the issue, she also addresses the symptoms to the bigger issue, that is usually at the root of it all. In a male dominated society the woman feels the pinch of being the weaker sex in all areas of life, but especially in the financial realm. The author manages to take you through the entire process to make us more confident women when staring into the eyes of the debt monster. She incorporates a 6 week action plan to get us up and moving in the right direction.
The reason behind our stubbornness or fear of debt is something that will take a change of attitude towards it. And using the lessons she has learned over the years and through her own problem with debt, she takes us aside to teach us what she has learned. Saving is my area in need of a major overhaul, but that's okay because the author addresses that as well. She goes on to explain a lot of terms that I either misunderstood completely or didn't understand that well. This book is a help to the novice or veteran saver!
Quote from the book..."Debt prevents us from following our dreams or following our heart's desire to serve others in some profound way."
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Revell.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2015Thank you to Revell Books for providing the copy of The Financially Confident Woman by Mary Hunt. All opinions listed are 100% my own.
One of my goals this year is to get our finances in order. While both my husband and I make great money, we can never seem to save any, and it always feels like we are running from paycheck to paycheck. That is why I jumped at the chance to read Mary Hunt’s newest book, The Financially Confident Woman.
I have always been a big fan of Mary Hunt. I have reviewed her books Cheaper Better Faster, and Debt Proof Your Christmas, both of which offered valuable financial lessons for me. However, this new book is where I really grabbed ahold of some lessons I really needed to learn.
Things like – do I really need that? I am one that will mindlessly buy something just because instead of asking myself, do I need that.
And don’t get me started on our eating out budget. It is bad.
But with Mary’s new tips, I really feel like this year is going to be the year I get things under control.
