Product Description

Product Description

Comedy icons John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star in the outrageously funny musical comedy The Blues Brothers. After the release of Jake Blues (Belushi) from prison, he and brother Elwood (Aykroyd) take their blues band back on the road in an attempt to raise money for the orphanage where they were raised. Havoc ensues as the brothers seek redemption on their "mission from God". Directed by John Landis (National Lampoon's Animal House), the soul-stirring comedy classic features musical performances by blues legends Ray Charles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Cab Calloway.

After building up the duo's popularity through recordings and several performances on Saturday Night Live, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd--as "legendary" Chicago blues brothers Jake and Elwood Blues--took their act to the big screen in this action-packed hit from 1980. As Jake and Elwood struggle to reunite their old band and save the Chicago orphanage where they were raised, they wreak enough good-natured havoc to attract the entire Cook County police force. The result is a big-budget stunt-fest on a scale rarely attempted before or since, including extended car chases that result in the wanton destruction of shopping malls and more police cars than you can count. Along the way there's plenty of music to punctuate the action, including performances by Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, and James Brown that are guaranteed to knock you out. As played with deadpan wit by Belushi and Aykroyd, the Blues Brothers are "on a mission from God," and that gives them a kind of reckless glee that keeps the movie from losing its comedic appeal. Otherwise this might have been just a bloated marathon of mayhem that quickly wears out its welcome (which is how some critics described this film and its 1998 sequel). Keep an eye out for Steven Spielberg as the city clerk who stamps some crucial paperwork near the end of the film.--Jeff Shannon

Best picture quality than 4k! One of the best movies
Definitely The Blue Brothers 2000 Its the best format improvement ( video, sound) than I can see in Blue ray ( really much better than many movies restored in 4k)! Irs incredible the quality of image ( 3840x2160 24p UHD but the filters and software used for the restoration bring you like a 4k or better! Its amazing), vivid color and sound quality? Its fantastic to listen with your receiver for Surrounding atmosphere!!! ( additional advice, When they are singing try to move the selector of your receiver to "Jazz" or "Concert" mode, you will be amazed! This movie its one of the classic musical and comic movie ( Blues & R&B) that you can find now and excellent Continuation of the first part ( The Blue Brothers), the music, the excellent legends of Music that is part of this movie is amazing!!! Piece for Collectors!

I live in Mount Prospect. This movie is pure Chicago! The MUSIC! THE COMEDY! THE CHASE SCENES! All real! So many cameos including Speilberg at the end. Don't miss it! But who hasn't heard of The Blues Brothers I'm sure you've all watched this movie!

If you don’t like funny movies with classic lines watch Schindlers List.

If you like the music of BB you'll enjoy the extended cut. The only parts they extended are the musical numbers. So the James Brown, Aretha Franklin and other musical numbers are in their entirety and not cut short. The comedy and music are the two best elements of Blues Brothers and in the extended version the music gets more screen time. The Bluray also looks and sounds great!

One of my favorite movies of all time. But the UHD rendition on my LG 4k television is nothing like I’ve experienced before. Every single scene is dim to the point of being visually annoying and disruptive. I took it off Filmmaker’s mode and into Classic plus adjusted my tv’s minimum brightness one step from maximum. It looks terrible.

Please, Content Ops, re-encode this title from mezzanine with an adjusted encoder profile. (We rented this, tonight, on my wife’s account.)

This is an entertaining late 70's movie and somewhat of a cultural icon. Worth seeing at least once, if not every decade or so.

Some people don’t like the scene where Jake locks up the car to show the view how it gets it’s power. I don’t mind it because you get more Peter Gunn. Extended John Lee Hooker. You get to see a gas station explode and extended Jail House Rock which is a reminder that Duck Dunn was such a cool bass player!
