About the author

Leominster, Massachusetts is known for four things: Johnny Appleseed, a thriving plastics industry, Robert Cormier, and New York Times bestselling author R.A. Salvatore. With over 20 million books sold worldwide, more than four dozen book and numerous game credits Salvatore has become one of the most important figures in modern epic fantasy.
A lifelong resident of Massachusetts, R.A. Salvatore, began writing shortly after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications/Media from Fitchburg State College. He penned his first manuscript in 1982, in a spiral notebook, writing by candlelight while listening to Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk album.
Bob’s first published novel, "The Crystal Shard", was released in February of 1988. By 1990 his third book, "The Halfling’s Gem", had made the New York Times bestseller list.
Salvatore spends a good deal of time speaking to schools and library groups, encouraging people, particularly young people, to read. With the zeal of a religious convert, he talks about the virtues of reading and the ultimate appeal, “it is fun.” He remembers his return to reading when he was in college, “The blizzard of 1978 shut down my college for a week. My sister had given me a copy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, which I read while house-bound. When I got back to school, I changed my major from math to communications.”
Salvatore makes his home in Massachusetts, with his wife, Diane and their two dogs, Ivan and Dexter. He spends his “free time” coaching and playing softball on a team made up of family and close friends. His gaming group still meets on Sunday nights to play games. Of late, they have been playing the new game R.A.designed with Bryan Salvatore and Geno Salvatore, "DemonWars: Reformation", a role-playing game set in the World of Corona.
He is currently working on more novels set in Corona for his DemonWars series.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2019R.A. Salvatore's fine Coven series continues with "Reckoning of Fallen Gods".
Aoleyn, destined to join the Coven, has seen her fortunes turn and is labeled a heretic by her fellow witches. She is set to be cast out and killed, but she survives, and brings her own form of judgment upon the other witches, for her magic has grown, and she sees the opportunity to serve herself rather than others.
But not all is well, for the village of Fireach Speur is in turmoil. A long-dormant civilization has claimed that a recent eclipse is a call to war. Now, hundreds of goblins and other creatures have set their sights on the lake village and its inhabitants. Talmadge and his companions try to help the village's people, but there are too many.
As the story goes on, Talmadge and Aoleyn will face their own challenges which will not only affect their lives, but the lives of those around them.
I've enjoyed both books in this series. The characters are well-developed, and there is lots of action and adventure. Eagerly awaiting book three.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2022Yet another great book by Salvatore. I've read around 60 of his books and have never been disappointed. This second book in the Tale of the Coven series is a great progression of the story from the first book and introduces a new group of antagonists that has left me excited to start the third! The bonus short story at the end was a great addition, especially for someone like myself who has read all of Salvatore's Demon Wars Saga and Saga of the First King books, which also take place in the same world as this series. Was nice to revisit some of those characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2019I enjoyed the first book and this one. Very entertaining. I did read them back to back so I found a couple of discrepancies in the story. I series of events that happened in the first book is thought back upon twice in this book and both times the events are in the wrong order. The other one is when Aghomor thinks back about something that happened in the first book between him and Brayth the characters are in reverse. I really don't know how that got past the writer, the editors and whoever else proof reads books.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2020I enjoyed book 2 (Reckoning of Fallen Gods) even more than book 1 (Child of a Mad God). As you'd expect, book 1 sets up the world and the main characters, and then book 2 throws things into overdrive and all hell breaks loose. By the time you reach the end of book 2, there is no way you'll want to call it quits. I suspect this series is going to have a strong ending with Aoleyn and Aydrian fighting side by side. And the enemy forces are as interesting (and menacing) as any others you're bound to come across... We've got a real fight on our hands folks, and Salvatore is just the writer to keep you invested and free up your emotions... This story has become a real roll-up-your-sleeves experience... So make sure to get plenty of rest. If you're a fan of Salvatore's already then you don't need my encouragement - to everyone else, this series will not let you down.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2019The beginning was a little slow because there is a lot of new information to go through with the introduction of the Xoconai (off the top of my head I can't say for sure if that is the correct spelling) but, there are some exciting new characters (the names are murder to my poor eyes!) and interesting developments in Fireach Speur. I greatly enjoyed Aeolyn's story and how she is given a greater chance in this book to grow into her own person and come to her own conclusions about life and her responsibilities to herself and her people. Another happy occurrence, I had a hunch after reading the first book Bryan would turn out to be someone important and I can't say I am disappointed. I really need to make some time to read the rest of R.A.'s books set in Corona to get the full backstory. I'm looking forward to the next book and the no doubt epic clash between the Fireach Speur Heroes and Scathmizzane.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2019It’s amazing that one of the best authors out there keeps getting better, the characters, the world, the cliff hanger endings, these books would make such successful major motion pictures! It amazes me that so many terrible movies are made every year and here this authors works are perfect screen plays and scripts waiting to be transferred to a different medium, from print to screen, someday hopefully I will be taking my kids to see R A Salvatore inspired movies! But till then I will continue to enjoy books from the best fiction author out today, thanks for doing what you do Mr. Salvatore, you make the world a better place with your amazing stories, keep them coming!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020I'm glad I finally bought into the Corona Cycle. This is as much fun as the Drizz't stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2019The story continues, and just gets more interesting, and "spectacular". The exploration of what it is to be a person (regardless of gender, physical appearance, and power) permeates the various characters' actions, perceptions, and ultimately ability to face truth. Enjoyable read, and well deserving of a place in R.A. Salvatore's Mythology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it
I read most of Salvatore's D&D books about Faerun. This one is about another world, I needed some pages to get used, but I love it. It's a great fantasy tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book by Salvatore!
I enjoy everything R.A Salvatore writes. He really develops his characters in such a way that gets you really interested in them. Some of his names are hard on the brain, but hey ... that's how this genre rolls! His world, Corona, is interesting and unique. I really enjoyed the read and can't wait until the next one in the series!
