―Jimmy Fallon, comedian, actor, and host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
"Rotten Movies We Love will shine a light on underrated movies you've never heard of and remind you of the movies that you loved in the theater, hated on the way home, but quoted for the next decade. Some of my favorite movies are in this book."
―Emily V. Gordon, co-writer of The Big Sick

- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2020This book lives up to the great Rotten Tomatoes standards. I bought 5 of them as gifts!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2021If, like me, you’re always looking for new lists of movies to binge, this book is a great read. I was genuinely shocked that some of the films were rated as low as they were, but it was fun to hear the Rotten Tomatoes staff defend otherwise hated films.
The book ranges through pretty much the entire history of cinema to compile a list of ‘rotten’ movies to defend. There is no genre preference - actually it reviews everything from slasher flicks to bigger than life Hollywood musicals. If nothing else I think this book does a good job of framing these films more as pieces of entertainment rather than works of art to be consumed in a very particular way.
Summing up the multiple arguments, I think it is safe to say that it is vital that you allow yourself to enjoy a piece of cinema by meeting it where it is. If you watch Step Brothers expecting the plot and gravitas of Schindler’s List, you will be sorely disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2020This was purchased as a gift for my daughter who is an avid movie lover. She LOVES this book and I just built mom-cred by giving it to her. If you are a movie-lover, get this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2022This book collects 101 movies that got sub-par ratings in the online movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, yet have some redeeming entertainment value...and then explains/defends each of them, sometimes with essays by movie critics. While I only own 8 of the movies on this list at the present time (and have seen maybe 5 more of them) I found the book mostly enjoyable, and always witty and humorous. Worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wild ride full of surprises!
The book itself belongs on any coffee table or in any book stand. Turn open any page and be hit with a variety of opinions and interesting hindsight from everybody's favorite movie website 'Rotten Tomatoes'. It seeks to ask 'Why are these movies that were derided by critics now seen as cult classics?'
In the book you will find 'Masters of the Universe', 'Return to Oz', 'Step Brothers', 'Friday the 13th Part 2' and many more!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's a book with information
As far as books about websites and web ratings go, well, it does it's job. For this reason alone I give this book three kernels (pop. pop. pop) out of a possible five.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read.
This book is great. I agree that while many of the films detailed in the book may not be the greatest cinematic achievements ever they are definitely movies I love as well.
