- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024The book is so good! I love using it and helps so much with learning harmonization, and there are tons of opportunities to use small excerpts as sight reading!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2023I am almost a 3rd in the book and can actually play stuff on the piano already. The key is in daily practice and NOT skipping any pages. If is overwhelming do a measure at a time. And do It at a comfortable pace for you even if is slow. Best of luck and best of all enjoy the journey. <3
shipping was great. ohh I almost forgot start today.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2020The university my daughter goes to requires the book for the first school year. It is very helpful, easy to understand and she loves it. She goes to a school of music.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2023Really helps you play the piano very well
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2024Had to buy this for a class and it’s helped immensely, just a little heavy :)
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2012Since it is a required text(in the college piano classes),and because of that way overpriced, I think at the very least publishers could have chosen a better quality covers - they are thin and perforated edges(where rings are inserted) start ripping apart after a about a month of daily usage. I had to make my own covers from thick carboard and glue original ones on top.
As far as book content goes, I think it is pretty good - nicely layed out topics, beautiful pieces to play. The only flaw would be(as our teacher pointed out), that it doesn't include many pieces for the very beginning - she had to give her own handouts for those.
CD could be better - you get idea for the notes played, but pieces are played very dry - no musicality at all. And with some other instruments in the background which are disturbing to hear the piano part.
Update: I went to Kinkos and had custom covers made out of thick plastic sheets(they just had black color)- it cost just 10 dollars for two books - I should have had them made right away, this way real covers would have been nice and safe inside.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for newbies!
Great book for my young son learning to play the piano for the first time. Very thick and comes with an included CD stuck to the last page of the book. The only reason for the 4 stars rather than 5 is due to the book arriving with the bottem right corner of the book curled backwards, but I could see no damage to the Amazon packaging - strange!
