- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2011I've used Excel for many years. I recently replaced my 8-year-old computer and had to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7 and the new software that goes with it. Since the look of MS Office 2010 is quite a bit different from Office 2000 (which is what I was using), I wanted a tutorial to guide me through the changes and new features, and get me back to work without a big learning curve. Microsoft's online tutorials are great, but for instructions in this type of situation, I guess I'm old-fashioned and prefer a reference book. "Excel Plain & Simple" is perfect because just as the title says, it's written in a simple style and is chock full of useful information with no chatty filler. Just go right to a specific topic and get your questions answered. There are beautiful, full-color screen shots on every page. It's perfect for experienced users like me who just want to get a quick tutorial on the new features, and because the basics are covered as well, it would be extremely useful to the novice. This great little book is well worth the purchase price and it's a welcome replacement to the 2" thick manual I used to have on my desk.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2011Book arrived today. Immediately went to Chapter on Graphs to find Help on what I was trying to accomplish. Found the Chapter, fixed my Graph. All is well.
Now, I'm starting to read the entire book to get a broader understanding of what can be accomplished in Excel 2010.
Great illustrations, step - by - step instructions. Just what I needed.
Almost overnight delivery - Ordered on weekend -arrived today, Monday!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2013This book is very useful and easy to understand, especially if you already have some experience with Excel. I needed an updated version, so this was the book for me. It covers everything from the basics to managing and viewing worksheets, formatting worksheets, and enhancing worksheets with graphics. I bought the book to help me with on online legal secretary course. It helped me understand Excel more than the textbook I had. Even better, it's much less expensive than taking an Adult Ed course in Excel. You don't need it with this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2011I purchased this one as a companion to Step by Step 2010. Gets you right to the point, and I will use this one as a quick desk reference guide. I love how colorful the book is and the colorful step by step instructions that are given to complete the task.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2013Wasn't super easy to follow. The beginning of the book was easy, but then it got harder to follow. I did better on my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2013Great step-by-step instructions to create powerful spreadsheets. The visual snapshots are very helpful and the text is well written and detailed.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2011The information in the book is indexed well and leads to the correct help very quickly. It has yet to fail me. Well worth the investment.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2013Purchased this book because I bought a new computer and found navigating the 2010 version of Excel a little challenging compared to the version on my older computer. This reference book is easy to read and the instructions are easy follow. It is best for a person who has little or limited knowledge of Excel or just needs a refresher on the Excel program. I would recommend it

4.0 out of 5 stars Excel a mystery?
For me an update of the 2003 edition, well illustrated and explained. However I would like to see a bit more of the practical publishing applications which seemingly are availble within the Excel software. No one seems to be bothered with that side of the applications!
