Review
Awesome Book!!! This has to be one of the best learning tools I have ever read for learning the piano. I have played self taught for years but after looking through this book I found that it would have been so much easier for me to learn with this. I cant wait to teach my children how to play and this is going to be the book I use to do it!!
- Danni L., Mom and Amazon customer
A Very Valuable Piano Resource! My kids and I play piano and have a big upright piano occupying my living room. We have had a lot of fun learning with The Piano Book for Kids 5 & Up. I would especially recommend this book to potential piano students without an extensive musical background. I am blown away by how the book was designed to present fundamental concepts in a manner that is easy for children to grasp. The video lessons are also very helpful! - Hannah Curtis, homeschool mom and Amazon customer
I Love the Piano Book for Kids 5 & Up! I love this book so much. I took piano lessons many years ago, and I wanted to start playing again with my children, but it seemed like I couldn't remember even the most basic things. So I picked up this book and I was amazing surprised. It was easy to follow, it was step-by step and I loved the songs (so did my kids). I'm so glad I took a chance on this book. Try it...you won't regret it and you'll be playing again before you know it! - Carly, Mom and Amazon customer
Great Book For Younger Students! I am using this book with a couple of boys who just turned 6 years old. Both are seeming to understand the concepts well. I started with a different book, but when that was finished we switched to this one. Both boys are enjoying the songs and practicing more than before. I believe this is a very good start for the little ones. Sara Edmundson, Piano Teacher and Mom

This is what Amazon readers have said about his books:
"This book is a dynamo! It covers guitar scales, music theory, and fretboard theory (all in one) in an easy, lesson-based format. It's a great find and very useful for my song writing and music theory."
"This has to be one of the best tools I have ever read for learning the piano."
"We got our 7 year old a guitar for her birthday since she had been showing an interest in musical instruments. Neither of us know how to play and didn't want it to end up in the closet or collecting dust in some corner of the room. I found this book on Amazon and decided to try it first before investing in lessons. I am so glad I did!"

- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2018I have been incredibly impressed by this particular piano learning book! Having had experience with music for many, many years, I could tell immediately that Damon walks through beginners in a step-by-step process that is not only easy, but effective, especially in the sequencing of the lessons. The lessons go from the very basics of fingering and learning the main notes to timing to learning the treble and bass clefs and learning notes, all very seamlessly and leaving the pacing to the student.
This book is especially great if you are learning on your own or if you are a parents wanting to teach your kids but haven't every learned music yourself. It's perfect if you are unable to afford a piano teacher or frankly just don't have time to go to lessons every week. The book includes videos that allow you the visual demonstration of what you are learning, just as if you had a personal teacher. Each video is placed appropriately throughout the book as new concepts are introduced and the videos are clear in instruction. I liked how clear each step was and having it demonstrated.
I would HIGHLY recommend this book, especially if you have no past musical training and want to learn to play the piano. Great, great book!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2024This was the book my grandmother used to teach me piano when I was a child and I bought a copy to teach my daughter. Some of the exercises are boring and lack melody, the progression is somewhat confusing at times (changing the usage of numbering from fingers to notes to beats) and most if not all of the songs are incomplete but the book does cover everything you need to get started playing piano and reading sheet music. I gave it 5 stars bc I don’t know a better book but someone probably could make something better.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2019Excellent supplemental instruction for teaching piano.
The added beat number are unnecessary after a few lessons. It causes some confusion with actual melody to play.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2018This is a book for all ages, not just for the little kiddies. It not only has text to learn the piano but it also has videos that go through the text as well. The book has jokes to liven up the learning experience. A person will be able to learn the basics of the piano as well as learning the higher level of the piano.
You will be able to go at your own pace to learn how it is that you play the piano. It is also a book that can bring a parent closer to the child while they are learning all the things that they can do on the piano.
