- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2020As a regular reader of Kevin’s San Francisco Chronicle’s Wednesday column, it was a privilege to get a deeper insight into this unique family of a gay couple with their two adopted teenage sons, who are formidable challenges due to their in-utero life on drugs. How We Keep Spinning is a fun read as we observe these devoted husbands who are like two Mother Teresas but with her piousness exchanged for irreverent spirited escapades.
Kevin bares his soul with humor and poignancy. He remains grounded, no matter what new or repeated challenge he faces. You feel grateful that these boys were placed with two gentlemen who remain sane no matter what the problem.
Do judge this book by its lively cover because you will laugh over events that if presented a different way could lead you to tears. However, occasionally you will shed tears of joy. There is sadness, but always followed by rejuvenation or hope for the future.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2020The adventures of Kevin Fisher-Paulson and his extended family are a major reason that I subscribe to the local paper. His column on Wednesdays brightens my week. This book collects some of his better columns (from an already outstanding set) into a small book. I tried to ration my reading to only one or two chapters per day, but couldn't stop reading. The adventures of a gay married couple, their two adopted boys and a herd of rescue dogs. A fascinating coterie of neighbors and friends weaves in and out of their lives. Great fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2020Loved this book, it is based on a weekly column in the San Francisco Chronicle. It's about a non-traditional, blended family, told with warmth and humor. LOVE IT!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2020I love to laugh and cry with another family lovingly raising kids with challenges.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2020My favorite Chronicle columnist. Super personality.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2020I read the author's newspaper column every Wednesday. I was delighted to find his book available through Amazon. It filled in some of the gaps in my knowledge regarding his family situation. I read it cover to cover the day I received it.
