Texts From Dog Paperback – November 6, 2012
Purchase options and add-ons
When October Jones figured out he could send text messages to himself on his mobile phone, he naturally decided that the best use of this discovery was to send passive-aggressive messages to himself under the guise of his bulldog. And so the exasperating, slightly delusional, and utterly endearing Dog and his alter ego BatDog were born.
Texts from Dog features Dog’s attempts to keep the neighborhood safe from the likes of Mr. Postman and his arch-nemesis Cat-Cat—he has managed to smash only three TVs and a patio door in the process. And in between crime-fighting sprees and run-ins with the squirrel mafia, there are romantic interludes with pillows, fetch sessions gone terribly awry, and the abusive banter only a bromance between man and his text-savvy dog can spawn.
Texts from Dog will make you laugh out loud and perhaps even make you think twice about leaving your pet home alone for the day.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2024If you're a fan of British humour, and have a dog, you'll love this book and the other one.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2013I was very excited to read that the texts from dog tumblr was going to be available in book format, even more excited to see the kindle option. Unfortunately it seems Mr. Jones's book was not successful enough for him to quit his day-job, but hopefully he will resume updating his website soon. It really is worth living up, it reminds me of the comic panel books of yesteryear, except it's text based, a very interesting twist. If you aren't sure you'll like it, check out his website, this book is just (thankfully) more of that.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2013You're reading along and it's funny and all but you're just chuckling and THEN, you hit a ridiculously funny text and suddenly it's one of the funniest little books you've ever read. I gave it as a christmas present to someone in my house because I secretly wanted to read it too. A great gift for the discerning dog owner whose pet texts him at work :-)

- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2012If you've read the Text from Dog Blog posts or liked him on Facebook - you're going to love this book. This, although the American Version, is distinctly British and is hilarious from the first page - the 'Introdogtion' right through to the end. Bonus drawings of Dog in various situations illustrate the texts they go with and each page has two text screens on each. (Unless one or more have been replaced with an illustration) So many Dog owners, myself included, will see their own dog in Dog's view of the world and the author's insight into the Canine Experience leaves one wondering if he isn't part Dog himself!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2023I bought this book because it looked so funny and I wanted to give it to my kids. I found it to be mildly entertaining, but not without a bunch of bad language. So I won’t be giving this to my kids, I’ll be returning it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2013I have been a fan of Texts from Dog for quite some time on Tumblr, so when I heard that they were releasing a book, I went ahead and pre-ordered it. It is everything I have come to expect from Texts from Dog. Some of them were old and I have definitely seen them before but most were actually new. All of them, whether old or new were definitely hilarious!
This excellent book will sit on my coffee table to entertain my friends, family and I for years to come!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2014Every time I read this, I laugh so hard I snort, especially since I can envision my bulldog doing all of the things in this hysterical little book. Have given a couple of copies as gifts to fellow dog lovers, and it's been an out-of-the-park hit each time. Perfect thing to just pick up for a few minutes when you just want a laugh - keep it someplace where your guests can give it a look, and you'll have hilarious conversation fodder for hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars So funny
If you have never heard of texts from dog you are missing out.
The book is filled with hilarious texts between a man and his dog. Most of this you can find on the internet but I bought this book for grandparent that does not have access to the Internet.
This book will make you laugh and is a great gift for the dog lover in your life
