Easy read for the young reader

Easy read for the young reader
My son is five and in preschool. We’ve been working on reading all school year. I decided to try and take him off the decidable readers and onto a real book to apply those skills. This was the book. Not a prereader, but level one. I had to help in some spots, and it was a long one. But duck and goose is his absolute favorite books so I figured that if he could read one like this by himself he’d have a new sense of pride in himself. And he did! He won’t read it again 😂, but that’s on my child more than anything. And I’ll get him back there. He just loves the easy path. And saw how long it was. Like I said, it was a level one and not a prereader. So we’ll go back to the beginning if he’ll let me. But if you’ve ever read this actual book, it’s a long one to begin with. So how do you simplify and reduce without cutting too much of the book out?

Very cute! All three of my kids have loved the Duck and Goose stories. We have several. My youngest is 2yo and she particularly loves Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin and this one (which we have just gotten as a Christmas gift). Although this one has more specific dialogue than others, it still has the sweet, simple flow of other D&G stories. Definitely a fun addition!

A very enjoyable story as all Duck and Goose books are. Older kids and adults find real humour and younger kids enjoy the story. Was a good learning to read book as well.
