I just love Emily's writing style. Her characters are always so relatable. The storyline was brilliant and I could not put it down. All three of these women came together with deeply buried secrets, naturally it didn't take long for things to start exploding at the lake. The ending was nice, but I wouldn't mind visiting these characters again in the future and see where they are. Very well done Emily Liebert.

This was my first book by Emily Liebert. The first couple of chapters started a bit slowly in my opinion, but it picked up quickly. The 3 main characters were interesting & very different from one another. As I read, I would change my mind about which character I liked best. They all had their share of faults. I was excited to learn their secrets! They were not what I expected. I had a little difficulties relating to some of the behavior, such as excessive drinking, but maybe my life is a bit quiet! Overall, I thought it was an easy read and entertaining book and I would definitely consider reading another book by Liebert.

Sloane is a really unlikable main character. From the way she treated her mother in the first scene, to her total self absorption throughout the book, I felt she was a total bitch. The characters were all rather one dimensional. The dialogue wasn't very well written, either. That said, it's a fun sumner book.

I loved the coming together of these three very different women. Their personalities and stories, I think were something that we could all relate to at least on some level and appreciate it. As a reader, you are able to connect with at least one of them, and some of their insecurities and doubts that they were either having about themselves, or where they were finding themselves at that particular point in their lives. I loved that they each had a secret, something that was shaping them, defining them, and changing who they were. I loved how each one eventually came out and the ramifications of each secret. I guess what I loved most that Emily decided to do with this book, is how she decided to end it. I love that not everything was nicely resolved and tied up in the end. Not everything was resolved, and we don't know the state of the relationships between each woman, if every marriage will survive, who will be a good mother. It was so much like real life, and for that I found it not only refreshing, but honest. They way in which it was written, it could have come across as horribly upsetting or honest and beautiful, I personally think Ms. Liebert achieved the latter. I am glad that I read this book, and I will continue to be a fan. I will be eagerly anticipating her next one!

Liked the setting and the array of contrasting characters. Liebert did a great job exploring the dynamics of marriage, grief and friendship. She put all the relationships to the test and I think they were fleshed out and resolved in a satisfactory manner without everything being neat and tidy. Friendship bonds change with time which hits home with a lot of people. Found myself relating to that theme, as well as how important it is to appreciate and recommit to your spouse, to not take a healthy marriage for granted. Overall, Liebert maintained a sense of suspense and threw in some unexpected surprises. The writing was well done and plan to read more of her books.

The description made this book SOUND like a great beach read, but I keep nodding off when I try to read it. None of the characters seems believable, and their conversations are rambling and filled with clichés. The premise is a good one, but the execution is poor. I think a good editor could have done a lot with this. I don't say mean things about books that are free, but since this is too boring for me to finish I thought I should warn other people who were considering spending money on it.

Three women, three weeks and a beautiful home on a lake. Sounds like the ideal vacation, right? Throw in some deceit, some lies, and an ex-boyfriend and then you’ll have Those Secrets We Keep. It’s not the feel good, female bonding, friendship building book you think it is and it’s best thrown back into Lake George.

What I loved: Aunt Annabel is a terrific character, but is only present within 2 scenes in the novel, so her love of life, wisdom, and sense of adventure are wasted. It would have been a better tale if Sloan and Annabel were just away on vacation.

What I didn’t love: None of these women are very likable, although they are very realistic. Georgina is the absolute worst of the three; but I will say, at least she owns who she is. Hilary is wound so darn tight that she may pop a button off of one of her preppy plaid polo shirts – my goodness – separate who you are as a person from what you do for a living and actually experience an emotion. Sloan – it’s never a good idea to make a u-turn on the road of life.

    Overall Grade: C+

Those Secrets We Keep by Emily Liebert -- will bring sunshine, warmth; breeze and the feeling of sand under your feet each page you turn. The lives of three women, the type of bond shared and connection formed -- their past, the mysteries and new discoveries that unite friendship as well as forming a new friendship -- keep you guessing. I have also expanded my vocabulary as I learned of a few new words! I finished this book in two weeks and I would like to see a sequel to this! If you like humor, witty, mystery and a little bit of suspense, then I recommend this book!
