- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2004This book blows you away with its raw emotion. So many twists and turns. I read this book so fast, I didn't even have time to think about what was going to happen next- which is good because the events unfolded unpredictably. I was left with my jaw open on several occasions.
Even though the book is entirely in first person the narrator -being nameless throughout- her emotions are crystal clear! Fortunately we are let in on other characters thoughts and feelings through, e-mails, and IMs, the narrators chance encounters, or private conversations and of course her to-the-point-questions!!!!!
This story is totally believable, it is apparent that people who are strangers can have an instant bond when thrown together in tragic times. Page 142 is shockingly erotic yet brief, very though provoking stuff- be careful if you happen to stumble upon this page in public.
EJD leads the reader to all the clues, but still I (like all the characters in the book) ignored them, and was stunned by the turn the book takes. It was hard for me to remember that the author is male- he was clearly able to zero-in on all of a woman's moods, emotions, tones and complexities. The end was slightly disappointing. I really wanted to see the answers to those questions.... An epilogue would have been nice.
Overall this is a great book, not a book to pick up from the library, this is a book to have on your bookshelf in the event you are in the same situation, and you need some help creating your own questions!!! I especially loved the way that EDJ makes references to his old characters- just a snippet or two to let the readers know that they are alive and thriving (Tammy from Cheaters, Kim from MIMC).

- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2021I have been searching for books on infidelity written by a male author because I wanted the man's point of view. Most infidelity novels are, naturally, written by women. This is a fast paced, unpredictable, satisfying novel that stretches around and beyond the trope. It is a story within a story and it will make your heart ache, while satisfying your need for revenge and redemption. Good job Mr. Dickey!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2025One of my favorite books from Eric that I reread every single time!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2015I've recently jumped onto the EJD bandwagon. I'm sure I must have read him in the past, but reading so many books over so many years I cannot remember for sure. However, I'm glad to be here. Eric Jerome Dickey is absolutely remarkable. He and Carl Weber have got to be the best AA writers today, with Eric at the very top. His writing is descriptive, eloquent, distinctive and just plain fascinating. His writing reflects the fact that he travels all over the world as he writes. I cannot imagine a writer being stationary and up with plots so varied and book after book unlike the previous, unless it's a continuing story which he doesn't give us much of. Sheer, raw talent at it's best,. This story of infidelity get me flying through the book in 3 days. Very, very good and so different from the norm. I will have read most of his books, consecutively more than less of them, by the time I'm finished. This book was wonderful, the writer is wonderful and I highly recommend reading his works.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2023I've been off and on reading Eric Jerome Dickey (may he rest in peace) books since my early 20's and here 20 years later and I'm still a fan.
This book has surprises I didn't expect and some that was predictable but all in all I still loved it. It's a very good read..
Now on to my next book
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2020The Other Woman by Eric Jerome Dickey was different, well written, with good storytelling, depth, sex, and twists. Dickey's unique way of writing this novel was ingenious.
All the named characters were important to the story and their relationships with each other were complex, raw, adulterous, but also thought-provoking throughout. Why this, what about that, what does this certain acronym that was used mean (hehehe), would I go to a place like that, could this have played out differently were all things I questioned while reading, and all these things combined made this book a 4 star read for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best romantic thrillet
I am not one of EJD's fans but after reading this astonding book I have just become one. This book has a risky edge and does not have any conventional elements at all. EJD has taken cheating on another spouse to a whole different level, EJD makes it a thriller rather than a love story that falls apart. Due to this uniqueness we are given the chance to decide who we side with in the tunnel of revenge in the book, we are not propagated to one character or made to like another. The storyline is very strong, nothing is imitated and we are allowed to foretell what may happen, which isn't the same with other books based on adultery.
I salut you EJD, you done magnificently well.

5.0 out of 5 stars
