Inner binding was destroyed. Poor description.
As you can see this is not in the 'good' condition it was stated as hopefully all the damned pages are in there I still need the book but it was a lie this is less than 'fair' condition.

I'm not sure what has gotten into my kid, but this book was his Christmas wish. It has all the fish and detailed information on where they can be found, what they look like, and how to identify them clearly. If I wanted to know what a sunfish looked like and how it was different from a Warmouth, then I would have the book needed.

5-stars but could still be better (6star). Vinyl cover can be cleaned easy. Faster then google or apps for identification. A few of pictures could be improved even if it were a fish out of water picture, but use catch and release pictures from fishermen not dead museum pictures because dead fish change color slightly. Also could include alternate local names like “red fish” for red drum, black&white silhouettes in text area margins. A few pictures are not full on side shots. But still a 5 star book for fishermen, student oceanographer, or after the fact (because it’s not water proof) diver.

I got this for my dad in 2016, and only now in 2017 (with license in hand) is he able to enjoy it. Good pictures as always and he enjoys studying it and dreaming about catching some of these fine species. Me, I prefer to look at the pages, and get my fish from a can.

While the caliber of the Audubon Field Guides has always been/remains phenomenal, they have updated all of the photographs in this volume. Normally that would be great, but I bought this mainly because I remember the exact image of the Altantic Wolf Fish from my childhood—big fat cheeks, semi-coiled sinewy body, visible scowling expression and prominently exposed teeth—and was psyched to show it to my daughter. The new photo is hideously unflattering and shows only the head of this beloved animal. I am deeply disappointed—I don’t care if the reason is absurd! It’s the little things in life, you know?

I buy the Audubon books for my husband for small presents as he is an outdoor lover, and these books are perfect for him. He specifically requested a book on fishes, and he has used it several times after fishing to identify the types of fish he has seen. It is compact, with a nice durable cover, and has beautiful photographs.

This book is thick but thorough. As other reviewers have said it should have been divided into two books: one for fresh water and one for salt water fish. Not sure how the binding will hold up long term given the thickness of the book. A bit too large to keep in the tackle box. Four star rating is due to the thickness of the book
