- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2023My granddaughter loved this book. Before I was finished reading it, she said “Again, again, read it again!” The pictures are so full of color and the children are all beautiful. It’s easy to read and your child will love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2016Don't buy this book expecting it to be like traditional Humans of New York posts/books, with a backstory for each picture. This is a children's book, with only one line per page, with a rhyming rhythmn to give it sort of a sing-song feel as you read it out loud. My son LOVED this book from the time we got it when he was about 9 months old through now, when he's over 2. He likes pictures of real people and now we enjoy talking about what each child is doing in the pictures. I love that it features children from all sorts of backgrounds engaging in all sorts of activities. I highly recommend it.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2016This was an instant hit with our twin girls (aged 3) they took one look and said they want to read the 'friends' book.
It's a short and simple bedtime read with positive messages about how children learn and grow accompanied by charming photos of the children of New York City. (New Yorkers will have fun trying to place which street and which block the photos were taken on).
It's a great visual book with a lot of appeal to younger readers. There's not all that much there for parents but at least it's a fun and easy read.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2014"Today in microfashion..." I'm a big HONY fan on Facebook, and my heart always melts when I see these words.
My young daughters really loved the HONY book that Santa brought to me last Christmas. We've really enjoyed flipping through it together and talking about the pictures, wondering about the people and their lives.
This book is a really cute, easy to read and fun to explore book! The images are (of course!) beautiful and it's great to share with my children.
Thank you, Brandon, for sharing your talent with the world!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2014I was so excited to get this for my little cousin because I'm a HUGE fan of HONY. The quality of the book itself is great and so are a lot of the photos.
If I'm being honest, I didn't love the text of the story. I'm not sure what I expected, but it didn't have the same depth that I'm used to from HONY posts on facebook and instagram. I didn't expect some profound philosophy, but it just left me feeling a little unsatisfied text-wise.
It's great for kids who are at the pre-reading age who like to make observations and point out things in books. It would be good for discussing diversity, colors (many of the photos have kids in very colorful outfits and costumes), and teaching new words by pointing and explaining.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2022My two year old loves this book. I love the diversity and real photos of different children. The message is uplifting and fun.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2016Bought this book for my 18 month old son for Christmas last year and it became his most cherished book. It's all he wanted to read and he carried it around with him. I found him examining the pictures when he was alone in his room. Eventually he memorized the simple text and I could hear him "reading" it all by himself. He's almost 3 now, and it's still a favorite. It's terribly worn by now, but I will keep that book forever and ever. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good book for their child!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love HONY
Having followed the HONY page on Facebook I bought this to read to my daughter. I was surprised at the lovely story and quality of the book (until she can hold it no doubt!) and would recommend it to anyone that wants their child to see more than cartoon and animated images when reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Granddaughter loves this book
Simple, well written, great pictures. I ended up reading this 3x on Christmas Day alone at my granddaughters request. Clearly a toddler can identify with the message.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carino e curato
Libricino molto carino e curato.
C'è una piccola storiella raccontata con le immagini dei bambini.
Può essere un regalo carino. Viste le dimensioni potrebbe costare meno (la metà) ma va bè.
