Clinical Hematology Atlas 5th Edition

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 449 ratings

There is a newer edition of this item:

Ensure you are accurately identifying cells at the microscope with Clinical Hematology Atlas, 5th Edition. An excellent companion to Rodak's Hematology: Clinical Principles & Applications, this award-winning atlas offers complete coverage of the basics of hematologic morphology, including examination of the peripheral blood smear, basic maturation of the blood cell lines, and information on a variety of clinical disorders. Nearly 500 photomicrographs, schematic diagrams, and electron micrographs vividly illustrate hematology from normal cell maturation to the development of various pathologies so you can be sure you’re making accurate conclusions in the lab.

    • Schematic diagrams, photomicrographs, and electron micrographs are found in every chapter to visually enhance understanding of hematologic cellular morphology.
    • Smaller trim size, concise text, and spiral binding make it easy to reference the atlas in the laboratory.
    • Chapter on normal newborn peripheral blood morphology covers the normal cells found in neonatal blood.
    • Chapter on body fluids illustrates the other fluids found in the body besides blood, using images from cytocentrifuged specimens.
    • The most common cytochemical stains, along with a summary chart for interpretation, are featured in the leukemia chapters to help classify both malignant and benign leukoproliferative disorders.
    • Chapter featuring morphologic changes after myeloid hematopoietic growth factors is included in the text.
    • Morphologic abnormalities are covered in the chapters on erythrocytes and leukocytes, along with a description of each cell, in a schematic fashion.
    • User resources on the Evolve companion site feature review questions and summary tables to further enhance their learning experience.
      • NEW! Appendix with comparison tables of commonly confused cells includes lymphocytes versus neutrophilic myelocytes and monocytes versus reactive lymphoctyes to help users see the subtle differences between them.
      • NEW! Glossary of hematologic terms at the end of the book provides a quick reference to easily look up definitions.

An excellent atlas in hematology! I strongly suggest it!
Clinical Hematology Atlas 5th edition by Rodak is an excellent atlas for hematologists, hematopathologists and hematology lab technicians. It has amazing images of most hematological problems including anemias and malignancies. To my mind, it is the best Atlas of hematology in the market and has helped me enormously at the hematology lab. However, for experts in hematology, I strongly suggest to Dr. Rodak to include images of rarer diseases such as the morulae on anaplasmosis, babesia, etc.

Had to rent this book for college, but it was so good that I bought one for my personal use. If you read this book front to back, you will be more than prepared for college level Hematology.

The atlas arrived in great condition. There is a crease on the front cover, just as the description of the item said there would be so that is no surprise or issue. The crease is fairly minor and definitely does not cause any issues. There is no writing or markings inside the atlas, which was very important to me. And the package arrived about four days ahead of schedule. I'm definitely happy with this purchase and would recommend.

This atlas doesn’t benefit from the most recent WHO classifications, but that’s not a problem since it doesn’t get into that much detail. I like the introduction, organization, schematic drawings and maturation sequences, those few electron micrographs, high quality pictures , disease associations, useful tables, it’s glossary and it also has a chapter on body fluids.
Cons: It doesn’t cover some of the abnormalities and disorders. A part of that plastic spiral bound broke on the first day of carrying it in a back pack!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sehr gutes Nachschlagewerk im Labor
Reviewed in Germany on June 22, 2021
