        It denotes Grams with an uppercase G which is kinda horrific for a book that is supposed to be teaching you the metric system. That is not how you ever see it on product that is correctly labeled. Grams should always be g not G. Uppercase G is prefix giga or x1000000000. Any one want a billion times the correct dose of medication?
