- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2016I've not read the finale, 13 Secrets, but I am sure I won't be let down. I thought how could 13 Curses be as good as 13 Treasures? Sequels, in many cases, are failures. But 13 Curses is equally as important and exciting as 13 Treasures. It is whole new portion of the story, with so many twists and turns. It gives so much information about the mysterious Red, and I really learned to love her in this book. It was a blast reading this book and solving the puzzle with the main characters of the story! I can not wait to read 13 Secrets.
***I first purchased 13 Treasures for my, fairy obsessed, daughter. I wanted to read it first to make sure it wasn't too dark or going to make her obsession for fairies turn into a fear. Turns out, it is one of my most favorite stories I've ever read. However, my 3rd grader is going to have to wait a little bit before reading this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2012This book is amazing. Fantasizing is hard for adults but Michelle captures the essence of a child. Her work is amazing and this trilogy keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. She also brings in surprise people like Rowan who was met by accident. I went to Michelle's web page and realized she is a young yet talented writer and she is truly breathtaking with her work. Inspiration is everywhere she tells young writers. The journey through which this book takes you is not just brilliant it is feytastic!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2024This book came in amazing condition. Not a single scratch or chip on it. I'm weird with my books looking nice, and it looks like it came straight off of the press it is so crisp and flat. Very happy with it. I also like that it's a matte cover, not glossy like my other ones, because it holds easier and doesn't slide around as much.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2012really this series is for the big of imagination! if you don't have it...don't buy it. for those of us who really want to escape the mundane existance of reality..this is a must read, buy. it really lays it all out for you..the fairie world and all the creatures, good and bad. spiderwick is another good comparison but this one really knocks it out of the park. the 3rd book gives just as good as the beginning. a really good ride. not just for the young, but young at heart!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2012I was introduced to this series when my 9 year old niece chose 13 Treasures to read. We sometimes share books so that I can keep abreast of what young readers are interested in today. I'm glad that I read it first because I'm not sure that it is appropriate for her to read; it's rather frightening and a VERY different (and, I must say, warped) view of fairies. However, I persisted in the reading and, by the middle, I was so interested in the story and the characters that I ordered 13 Curses as soon as I finished. The story in the second book was captivating from the beginning. As I indicate in my title, it draws you in so that I had a hard time putting it down...almost like being drawn into a fairy ring. I'm now looking forward to reading the third book. However, I still think that it's not appropriate for my niece at this age. The story concepts are very dark and some of the descriptions are rather disturbing. While she is an avid, capable reader and has even read some of the Harry Potter books, she has a very vivid imagination and might be disturbed by some of the things that happen. I'd like her to think, right now, of fairies as being pretty and gentle creatures. I'll put the books away and give them to her at a later time.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2015This is such an amazing book! The author has created the characters so well.... They just are a whole person, and you feel like they could be your best friend. She created a world of fantasy that is absolutely incredible. I have read the trilogy at least 3 times, and I'm still in love every time I do it. 7 out of 5 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2013This book is a great sequel to The Thirteen Treasures. The plot is intricately woven and I as the reader never wanted to put the book down. It brings the reader into a whole new world. You feel all the characters emotions yourself, anger, fear, courage, regret, excitment etc. Michelle Harrison is an amazing author and I cant wait to read the final book in the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally addictive
Loved reading this book collection so far, it's so gripping I can't put it down. Both my 9yr old daughter and I are reading the collection seperately and it is perfect for all ages child/adult. Lots of magic, mystery, adventure & suspense. We are looking forward to reading Michelle's other book collection (A Tangle of Spells), she is a great author and I can highly recommend her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!
This was a brilliant sequel to Michelle Harrison's first book, the 13 treasures. Red has been trapped in the fairy realm ever since she volunteered to take the place of Tanya. She soon realises that time passes differently in the parallel world. All is well until she falls into the hands of the hedge witch, an evil glamour maker. On a mission to find her brother she must reunite the 13 treasures, but are they really 13 curses?!! This was an epic book about friendship and adveneture and I loved it!!
