Do you ever feel like you are constantly searching for the right way to live? Are you searching for answers to cope with grief or hardships? Maybe you are seeking a resolution to a recurring problem?
The Book of Life written by—one of the greatest thinkers of our time— Jiddu Krishnamurti guides you through 365 meditations so you can use your experiences to discover truth and the reality that already exists.
Krishnamurti believed that every aspect of life is interconnected. He explored nature of truth and freedom, and taught people that truth can be discovered by anyone and doesn’t require an authority figure. The daily meditations are organized by months focusing on topics such as:
· Self-knowledge, listening, good and evil, and dependence
· Sex, fear, feelings, and energy
· Happiness, grief, perception, rebirth, and religion
· God, love, and aloneness
Each daily entry is brief and can be read in 5 to 10 minutes. Within entries, Krishnamurti poses questions for reflection and shares wisdom that you’ll reference later. Some of those poignant messages are:
· Learning is always in the active present; it has no past.
· We follow another’s authority, another’s experience and then doubt it; this search for authority and its sequel, disillusionment, it a painful process for most of us.
· You discover yourself, not in isolation, not in withdrawal, but in relationship.
· The transformation of the world is brought about by the transformation of oneself, because the self is the product and a part of the total process of human existence.
The Book of Life is perfect for anyone interested in shifting their mindset, decreasing their stress levels, embracing a happier framework, and open to daily meditations.

About the author
Krishnamurti is regarded globally as one of the greatest thinkers and religious teachers of all time. He did not expound any philosophy or religion, but rather talked of the things that concern all of us in our everyday lives, of the problems of living in modern society with its violence and corruption, of the individual's search for security and happiness, and the need for mankind to free itself from inner burdens of fear, anger, hurt, and sorrow. He explained with great precision the subtle workings of the human mind, and pointed to the need for bringing to our daily life a deeply meditative and spiritual quality.
Krishnamurti belonged to no religious organization, sect or country, nor did he subscribe to any school of political or ideological thought. On the contrary, he maintained that these are the very factors that divide human beings and bring about conflict and war. He reminded his listeners again and again that we are all human beings first and not Hindus, Muslims or Christians, that we are like the rest of humanity and are not different from one another. He asked that we tread lightly on this earth without destroying ourselves or the environment. He communicated to his listeners a deep sense of respect for nature. His teachings transcend man-made belief systems, nationalistic sentiment and sectarianism. At the same time, they give new meaning and direction to mankind's search for truth. His teaching, besides being relevant to the modern age, is timeless and universal.
Krishnamurti spoke not as a guru but as a friend, and his talks and discussions are based not on tradition-based knowledge but on his own insights into the human mind and his vision of the sacred, so he always communicates a sense of freshness and directness although the essence of his message remained unchanged over the years. When he addressed large audiences, people felt that Krishnamurti was talking to each of them personally, addressing his or her particular problem. In his private interviews, he was a compassionate teacher, listening attentively to the man or woman who came to him in sorrow, and encouraging them to heal themselves through their own understanding. Religious scholars found that his words threw new light on traditional concepts. Krishnamurti took on the challenge of modern scientists and psychologists and went with them step by step, discussed their theories and sometimes enabled them to discern the limitations of those theories. Krishnamurti left a large body of literature in the form of public talks, writings, discussions with teachers and students, with scientists and religious figures, conversations with individuals, television and radio interviews, and letters. Many of these have been published as books, and audio and video recordings.
More information about Krishnamurti’s life can be found in the biographies written by Mary Lutyens and Pupul Jayakar.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2010I read a lot of Krishnamurti and I definitely love his methods of analysis and his language.
I even adore his rebellion, which I assume is just his own right to have a private place for
earthly experience, that made him more grounded in his observations after all.
While in his other works he might impose more complex units of thought, not so easy to
grasp at any moment of the day (not for us, binary people), this book has an easy approach
of an abstract calendar. It is written in a more simple way then his other works, but it is
thoughtfully structured to work together with your reflexions. Trying to read it too fast
would probably make you miss the point, as it is absolutely important here to give yourself
time to reflect or try to apply the tiny tweaks in your approach to certain phenomena, as
he is sometimes suggesting. I keep it at the bedside and give it ±15 minutes before sleep.
Each page works like a little infusion of clarity and by doing this I got much better taste of
the essence that he was trying to convey throughout his otherwise more wordily elaborations.
If you happen to practice meditation, the playground for application becomes even bigger
and far more interesting. Once you read it, you'd probably want to do it again. Recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2015In the beginning it appears to be difficult to understand but it is important to realize that it is the mind that is complex, not K. K is extraordinarily simple so if our minds are unable to grasp these writings it is because of the deep conditioning that we are exposed to constantly throughout our lives. This is NOT about positive thinking or self improvement. If you are trying to be a better person, don't bother buying this book. This is a very good first book to buy. Just keep it by your bed and read 1 page per day. Some days you will find something that is extraordinary mostly not because of the actual content but what is written is so simple you are amazed that you were unable to see it. The best way to read K though is http://www.jkrishnamurti.org/rss/ You get a daily quote emailed to you. Keep this in mind..... the moment you accept time as a means of change, you do not see the falseness in that fact and therefore the truth of that - that is the greatest sorrow.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2021Once I read Krishnamurti’s Freedom From the Known, my life was never the same. The truth that is in the dialogues in that book are truths that, once seen, are hard to unsee. Even so, I found myself wanting to read a little each day. Then I discovered The Book of Life with its daily meditations and I knew that I wanted this book. I have read each daily meditation since purchasing the book. I recommend Krishnamurti to anyone who knows that there is a light in this universe that is sacred but for whom the sacred texts leave much to be desired. Krishnamurti’s dialogues as preserved in text teach us that we are that light, and there is no path to the sacred truth and light, we are in it and we are that light, and only our conditioning stands in the way.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2014This is good reading that easily lends itself to contemplation and meditation. Would recommend it to any, no matter the religious background.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2018He adds no fluff to his words. He gets right to the point. It's easy to see that he has put a lot of thought into understanding the things a person goes through. I've read a lot of books from different spiritual masters, and enjoyed learning good things from them. But if I had to choose just one teacher, it would be Krishnamurti. He's not some cool celebrity type who charges big bucks to get you all excited for a night. He is serious about understanding what the real truth is. Not your truth or my truth that we can agree with, but the honest to goodness bottom line truth that never changes. And that's all I want, the actual truth, even if it hurts. So if you're serious about knowing who you really are, and ready to go through whatever it takes to get there, I highly recommend all of Krishnamurti's works. Read them, let it sink in, read some more and examine yourself. If you really want the truth you will find his words help peel away layers of what is not true. But be forewarned. Almost everything he says is basically the opposite of everything the rest of the world has forever been telling us we want.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2022The book is fine, can be read, is in fine condition and came in expeditious time.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2023K embodies and expands upon the advaita philosophy of the Hsin Hsin Ming. A clear concise guide to rational thought. Demonstrating dualism is the disease of the mind and society. A fresh mind alive with passion and creativity is the goal.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2014I bought this for my boyfriend and he loves it! He is a big fan of Literature and inspirational stuff so I got this for him. I think he read all of it within a week or two and he still carries it around and rereads parts of it. I haven't actually read it but I think it's a great book with interesting and deep thoughts in it (at least that's what my boyfriend said).
