I am so glad that I found this food. I have 3 dogs that are 45lbs., 50lbs., and 85lbs. One of them had some pretty bad allergy issues and she was on Apoquel along with other topical medications for itching, hot spots, and constant ear infections. Since we switched to Dr. Harvey's her allergies have disappeared and she no longer needs any of the meds. Also, my seven year old girl was losing weight because she wouldn't eat any brand or type of kibble that we tried even with toppers. She would sniff her bowl and walk away or pick around the kibble for the fresh food that we topped it with. Now with Dr. Harvey’s she is excited to eat every time. I am aware that it can be quite costly to feed this especially with multiple dogs, but not as bad as you might think. If you check the prices of other fresh dog foods you’ll find that this is the most reasonably priced way to feed your dog(s) fresh balanced meals. I can feed all three of my dogs for about half the cost of the next most reasonably priced fresh food that I could find.

My dog LOVES eating Dr. Harvey's dog foods! His sensitivities and allergies are uncommon, though. He has an extra sensitive digestion system and is under the care of an internal medicine veterinarian. Having IBD and many food allergies, I was told he must only eat "'cooked" food. As advised, I've been experimenting with (new) novel proteins to discover which meat sources he can tolerate without getting loose & sometimes bloody stools from. He is sensitive to chicken, turkey, mussels, & salmon and possibly to duck and venison too. I say possibly because I now know I was giving him a form of chicken, unknowingly. I thought the Veg-to-Bowl recipe, finely ground, would be perfect. 1st, I did try feeding my dog this after poring boiling water over it and letting it sit for 30 minutes. Just as his IM vet warned me, this made my dog have the runs and it passed right through him mostly undigested, even with digestive enzymes added. Next was cooking it. Making enough for 7 days, I added 3×'s the water and baked it for 75 minutes at 325° to get it extremely soft, stirring it halfway through. A few days later, his diarrhea returned. So, I called Dr. Harvey's and spoke to their nutritionist. She told me that there are chicken egg shells in the Veg-to-bowl recipe.
Bottom line, Dr. Harvey's dog foods have a lot of varieties and their phone staff is amazing. If your dog has some problems, they are more than willing to help you. My dog's case is a bit rare. I'm determined to find a food that my dog can tolerate. Their nutritionist recommended the Allergy formula in the Fish Recipe. I hadn't tried feeding him a white fish, like Cod, before this. In time, I'll find out if he tolerates this formula. Thank you for reading what I wrote. The rating system is too vague and I felt the need to elaborate quite a bit more.

Great alternative to purchasing and preparing the vegetables in your pet's food! When my senior dog could no longer eat kibble, I found Dr. Harvey's on Amazon. I've purchased the veg-to-bowl, the miracle food (I've also purchased the Honest Kitchen mix - my dogs won't touch it).

My dogs are picky and it drives me crazy. They WILL eat the Dr. Harvey's food... I think they prefer the Miracle Food over the Veg-to-bowl because of the oats, but they will eat both. I like the fact that all of the veggies are in there and they don't mind the smaller pieces (it's actually better since my picky Maltese likes to lick-throw his food all over the place when it's not something he's excited about).

I went to the store, picked up a glass jar, put the scooper inside and made a copy of the feeding instructions (provided inside of the bag) put it inside of the jar to use as a label so I could always refer to it by looking at the outside of the jar (looks really nice inside the glass jar, too!). I found it easier to scoop from that than the bag.

My dogs seemed pretty healthy with it. To be honest, I am currently using a local fresh dog food company where everything is slow cooked locally. I still have some Veg-to-bowl from when I purchased it (Out of the Miracle version), but you do get a really great value for your money with this thing. My dogs never got an upset stomach when I put them on this.

Though convenient, it is still work to prepare daily. I would suggest making a larger batch (going by the instructions), freezing the majority and leaving a couple of days worth in the fridge. My dogs are small (5lb range), so I use zippered plastic snack bags to store smaller portions in the freezer and when it's time to feed them, I take out a frozen packet, microwave it for about 40 seconds on each side or you can warm it in some hot water for a few minutes.

I tried this variety on a whim when his last bag ran out. He liked it for a couple days before he started refusing to eat anything. Over the course of 5 days, he only touched one meal. It’s not uncommon for him not to finish his food or skip a meal here and there, but this was excessive for him. He’s back to eating again now that I’ve switched him back to Canine Health. Thankfully, my other dog will eat anything without a second thought so he’ll finish the bag.
