Neurocritical Care (Pittsburgh Critical Care Medicine) Illustrated Edition, Kindle Edition
In recent years, neurocritical care has grown and matured as a subspecialty of Critical Care Medicine with the advent of new monitoring, diagnostic, and therapeutic capabilities. The goal of neurocritical care is to rapidly deliver acute medical therapies and appropriate interventions through effective monitoring of both neurological and end organ function. Neurocritical Care provides 'at the bedside' guidance on the medical knowledge and technical skills required to care for critically ill patients with neurologic conditions such as cerebrovascular disorders, neurotrama, neuro-oncology, refractory seizures, neuromuscular diseases, infections, alterations in consciousness, and perioperative neurosurgical care. Part of the Pittsburgh Critical Care Medicine series, this compact volume is an ideal reference for physicians and trainees working in either a general ICU or specialty Neuro ICU unit. Readers will gain an understanding of background knowledge and concrete solutions to questions and situations encountered in daily practice.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"[The book] is compact, portable, and easily digestible - whether for a quick fact check on the way to a consult or to enrich one's understanding of the scope of neurocritical care practice." -- P.B. Raksin, MD, Neurosurgery"Health care providers involved in the care of critically ill patients with neurological conditions would do well to read this book, which fits into every coat pocket." -- Lea C. Kistler, MD and Markus M. Luedi, MD, Anesthesia & Analgesia"This book can be recommended for its concise but effective text. Providers caring for neurological patients in the critical care unit will find at least brief discussions of the vast majority of problems seen in this setting." -- Doody's Review

Working alongside the brilliant mind of Dr. Lori Shutter. This book is fantastic, I highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of completing/applying to a fellowship in critical care medicine at UPMC. Or in general to anyone who works in a neuro critical care ICU. This book was very useful for me for when I rotate through the NICU and continues to be useful to me when I am caring for neurologically ill patients. Highly recommend this book for ANY resident, fellow, medical student, NP or PA who works in the ICU. It’s a short read and is packed with very useful information from treating seizures in the ICU to strokes.
I work as a PA in the NICU and Neurotrauma Unit, this book has helped me understand how certain neurological disorders are treated and why we treat them the way we do. It is a book I refer too constantly when I’m on call.
