Fortunately, a new view of introversion confirms how valuable this personality type is in work environments, relationships, and society. Practicing self-care is a way of showing respect for yourself so you can be your best for others too.

Self-care tactics for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Self-Care for Introverts leads you on a path to self-awareness of your unique needs and why you must pull back to recharge and restore when your extroverted friends are still going strong.

You'll be prepared with specific, actionable ideas for taking proper care of your body, mind, and spirit so you can return to work and life with joy and vitality -- and enjoy socializing on your terms.

As I strong introvert myself, I adore this book! So much of it resonated with me, that is actually made me feel a bit more normal, versus the exception to the extroverted world. This read focuses on the fact that introverts have the need to detach and recharge, in order to restore from the interactions and responsibilities in life. It is clear that extroverts tend to recharge in very different ways than introverts. We should build self-awareness and have healthy practices in place, so as to not become depleted, and allow our more outgoing friends/family convince us that we should be more social, expressive, present, etc. The author provides wonderful self-care ideas tailored to the introvert in both physical and mental/emotional care. Consider this a handbook for you if you need a soothing dose of nourishment to your soul. Learn to push away guilt and mental clutter, and clarify your path of not only wellness for yourself but to be ready to serve others at your best.

Not everything in this book will be applicable to everyone. The author is correct in saying apply what pertains to you. I can't relate to some of the information she presented. Exercise or joining a gym was never a problem for me. However the second part of the book was excellent. The author knows what makes introverts tick, and guides them toward a more fulfilling life.

The information is good, but not new. It can be helpful if you need this. I have been reading books that are more compassionate and informative.

I've been following Barrie Davenport for several years now. This book, like all her work, is well written and full of insights that will inform you and help you in your life. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised that it is really much more than 17 rituals (as the subtitle suggests). The book is full of information about who introverts are and how they can use their special qualities to enhance their lives.

I appreciate and admire Davenport's "style" -- she is very thoughtful and even kind in the way she presents her ideas. By that I mean that when she writes, she talks to me as if I am an intelligent reader who can benefit from what she has to say. I am, I can, and I will. You will, too. Really.

This wonderful book is so easy to read and follow: it's worth your time to go cover to cover. Barrie's book provides so many nuggets of information and suggestions that introverts are bound to find some (or many!) that resonate. Her holistic approach to your whole being (physical, mental, emotional) is especially valuable. Introverts sometimes feel that they get the short end of the stick, but Barrie's understanding of introversion is deep, and she brings that knowledge and caring to every page. A valuable read for every introvert!

Liked this. As an introvert even tho I love being alone, I have my mother living with me. As an adult didn't realize how hard it would be having someone around 24/7. I love taking care for others but tough hearing someone talk all the time. I really have to work on taking care of myself. Even tho I know all this this just helps to remind me.
