This is the 4th Littman I've bought in 32 years. The last one several years ago had an issue with the tubing getting sticky with cleaning. I do not know if this one will have the same problem yet. I haven't read anywhere where this is happening with the Cardiology IV, so I'm hopeful it won't.
First of all, I do not hear well. I have an auditory processing disorder plus I can't hear 5 sounds in one ear. I struggle with sound. The Cardiology IV provides the best sound I've ever experienced from a stethoscope in my 33 years of being a nurse. It is a quality instrument in every way. I love the 2 sizes of diaphragm on it. I work in L&D, so it helps with listening to adults as well as babies all in one device. The ear pieces are snug and comfortable. The tubing is just the right length to not be too long or too short. Also, because I do appreciate aesthetics as well as quality, It's absolutely beautiful as well as perfectly functional. I do not have any negatives except possibly the price, but it is worth $200+ to me.
I also appreciate that I was able to use my FSA card to purchase and exclude that amount from my taxable income. 🙂

Beautiful yet functions the same as an inexpensive one
Received my littmann stethoscope a few days ago but I had been busy taking classes so I had not had the chance to open the box and rate it, my visual impressions are that the stethoscope is beautiful , I wished the item itself arrived in a sealed box so that I wouldn’t have to wonder if it was used before since when I opened it , it was all over the place and not in the place where it should have been, I also wished that for the price that they would have included more accessories like a carrying case or a stethoscope drum or an adult rubber band and not just the pediatric one since the adult side is the one that’s mostly used. I am glad they included an extra pair of ear pieces and an extra pediatric drum rubber, another negative is that they don’t move like my other stethoscopes to adjust them to your ears, the way they are is the way they are, so hopefully you don’t have weird ear canals. I tried them out, I listened to my own heart sounds and I compared them to my old pair which you can see the brand name on the photo and to be 100% honest with you , the expensive ones sound the same as my old pair which I’ve had for 17 years and cost me around 30 bucks. I am a medical assistant and also an EMT and pretty soon going to be phlebotomist. So there ya go.
