Excellent low carb cookbook for diabetics
I've already made several recipes from this book and they were yummy! I can recommend the Rosemary walnuts for one, but they are addictive! And I made the mustard grilled pork for a family BBQ and it disappeared!

A great book for people who are very insulin resistant. Few low carb books offers recipes that are almost exclusively 5 carbs or less per serving. This book makes it easy to plan meals when you are an extremely limited carb diet. Dana's recipes are easy and failproof and Dr Westman makes it easy to get started and stick with a diet that will lower your blood sugar.

This book is very educational, and has a lot of good recipes. I've had mixed results with the recipes, though. Besides being very low carb, the recipes provide a lot of variety, to suit many tastes. They are also pretty simple to prepare, with short ingredient lists. I appreciate the opportunity to learn new ways of preparing food that meet my dietary requirements.

This is a book designed to deliver people from diabetes and insulin resistance. It is a lifestyle change. We purged our house of high carb foods. It requires a commitment to three net 5 carb. meals and one 5 carb. snack per day and the book gives recipes to accomplish it. My wife, who is diabetic, and I have been on the diet for a month and we have lost both weight and inches and my wife doesn't need her medication. I would recommend this book with the caveat that it won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile is.

YESYESYESYES!!! If you are a diabetic, on insulin, the information in this book is MEANT to be used. This means you are in control. This is the book for the HEAL protocol at Duke University. I was able to lower my fasting sugar to 93. I am still not finished, but I was able to get rid of using Metformin.

I have been on the keto diet for 5 months - but I still learned a few things from this book regarding diabetes and the diet. The recipes are EASY... not alot of ingredients. I will try most all of them. I was surprised in that some recipes use ingredients that are more processed than I would choose ... but for overall value I couldn't give this book less than 5 stars!

I normally love all of Dana Carpender's recipes, and it was not so much that the recipes were bad in this book, it was misleading. I purchased the Diabetes book for a gift, a newly diagnosed diabetic, not realizing all of the recipes were high fat and "keto". Since this person has a heart problem and needs to eat low fat, I had to send this product back. Unfortunately nowhere on the cover nor in the description lets you know this is a high fat keto book

I wanted to like this book more than I do so far, as I'd heard so much about the author. I bought this book when my sweetheart was placed on a low carb high fat diet to address his blood sugar, and the dietician recommended the author, but I've been ambivalent about the recipes. I don't use very much in the way of prepared food, and I try to stay away from too much sodium, and some of these recipes taste really salty to us, plus I don't always have things in the pantry that are needed (for example, we don't have canned mushrooms, just fresh). I'll keep trying recipes in the book - I only need to find a few that we like to make it totally worthwhile for us.

I see several recipes that I want to make but I bought Kindle version and wonder if there is a problem with it. I've already found two recipes that are missing items from the ingredient list or else instructions for what to do with the ingredients. Other than that it looks like a good book. The recipes are for the average home cook. Nothing real involved or complicated and I need some new ideas for my LC menus.
