After reading a large number of books on rowing this in my opinion is one of, if not the best. The training plans and techniques go to extraordinary detail and in my view contain the latest training/successful techniques. I think the book caters for the international rower particularly well, and for others not in this class it provides an exceptionally useful reference and ideas for improvement.

The authors have put together a condensed (128 pages) book that gives a good level of detail on physical training for rowing. As per the author's experience at coaching at the National Team Level, the emphasis is on programs for high level athletes. If you are competing at a lower level, the book is helpful for ideas and exercises, but you'll have to construct your own program. If you are limited to a few hours on the water, this book doesn't really address your needs. It is also obviously oriented to 2000 meter racing only. I read the whole book and don't remember seeing "head racing" mentioned once. The index, which is a scant 100 entries, will not be any help.
The main question: is this worth the money? Yes, likely if you can get one good flexibility or conditioning exercise out of it that you didn't know about before. I just wish they had addressed a wider audience.

Well laid out and a great mix of training research and actionable plans. The process for training adaptations and how to effect these changes is a continual focus of the book.

This was a gift to my granddaughter, who is one of the leaders on her team. She was very surprised and said it will be very useful and helpful.

Coach-friendly.
Not so much for regular indoor rowing athletes.
There are far better titles for an overall view of rowing as a sport, technique, equipment, training methods, etc. elsewhere.

Was personally a little disappointed but probably a good buy if you don't already have other similar coaching texts.
