Though very similar to the “old” Fiber Syrup Gold in name and taste, the formula for the syrup has been updated and is no longer based on IMOs for dietary fiber and sweetness.

I was concerned about the mixed reviews on taste, but I decided to give it a try. My husband and I have been doing the ketogenic diet for a couple of months but he likes hot tea with (lots of!) honey and I was trying to find an alternative for the honey. When it arrived, I tasted it first and it tasted just like corn syrup to me, however, when my husband tried it, he said it had a funky taste. I have come to the conclusion based on this and the reviews that everyone will fall into one of these 2 groups-either it tastes sweet or it has a funny taste. It's always strange to me how differently we can all taste the same things.

Since he didn't like it, I've been using it for my own hot tea, however, even though it tastes sweet on its own, it is not sweet enough to use in place of honey. In fact, I've come up with a concoction for my tea which consists of Swerve, stevia glycerite, fiber syrup, and then just about 1/2 tsp of honey to combat any of the aftertastes of the sugar substitutes used. For me, I've come up with the appropriate measurements of each to where this flavors my tea nicely, however, for the price of this syrup, and how little it sweetens in a hot beverage (and on its own to sweeten a hot beverage I DO taste an aftertaste) sadly I won't be repurchasing. If the cost was less, or even if it was available with my prime shipping, I probably would continue using it and maybe even try to find other cooking uses for it, but for this total price, I don't feel like the price is worth the gain. Used on its own, it just requires entirely too much of the product to sweeten adequately, at least for our tastes, when we're used to the Swerve and stevia glycerite for most things (and honey for tea)

This is amazing. I love it. Great for low carb diet. Use it over pancakes low carbon ice cream and nut. I use it in place of honey in recipes and on peanut butter sanwhiches. It's sweet but not sickly sweet. Put some in a small container and add any flavour essence you like exam maple for your treat plus it's high in fiber. Its a bit pricey but besides that it's a great product.
