I cannot believe both of my cats love this food. They now refuse to eat store cat food. The "thickness" of the food is not high. It is easily mashed if need be. The thickness is like an cooked oatmeal - creamy but not runny. Both cats prefer softer foods so I am glad it is easy to mash or stir this food. And, if I have to heat it a tiny bit (a few seconds in microwave), they love it even more.

Normally I would not give a younger cat a special kidney food, but he is very picky. If the 13 yo cat and the 1.5 yo cat can agree on the same food, it is nothing short of a miracle. 24 cans has lasted us around 50 days (half a can split between two cats each day). So one can gets us through 2 days. They get dry food too, so they are content but not fat.

It is worth the money, especially since our (chubby) dog no longer eats store cat food like it is candy.

I have some of the pickiest cats I've ever had, or known - so for them to love this food is a huge accomplishment. Okay - it's not cheap - and that's the only drawback, But helping them to be healthy - or at least to slow the progress of the breakdown of their kidneys (they're all over 16 years old, sadly), is a blessing. It makes me very happy. Worth the requirement of getting your vet to approve the purchase - which is kind of weird and seem arbitrary - but what the heck. I'll go along with it to get all the benefits and pleasure my cats deserve.
