A few years ago, my father had his spleen surgically removed. When he recently had to have a hernia surgery, I thought I would cheer him up with this, on the off chance the surgeon could replace his missing spleen while he was digging around in his abdomen.

This cute plush is well made, and comes with a little tag with not-too-serious “about me” style questions. I imagine this could be useful memory tool for a kid who has an interest in anatomy, though they shouldn’t be used as a science reference on their own.

While the product is good quality, I wouldn’t really recommend them to kids under 5 or those who are violent with their stuffed toys - they can probably handle the abuse, but the tags can’t. I see these as more of a novelty item than a plaything.

My dad got a huge laugh out of this, but unfortunately his doctors say that this spleen just isn’t compatible.
