About a year ago we thought we would have to put down our 10-year-old senior dog, he was struggling to walk, go downstairs, and get up in the middle of the night on his pillow to turn around. I was assisting him with using a towel to help him get up safely.A friend of mine suggested The Vets Best Pain pills. I ordered them right away and started him on two a day, within a week we were seeing improvements, and within a month he was almost back to normal.He now gets 4 a day, 2 in the morning with breakfast and 2 before bed. It's given us our dog back. We have two 1 yr old pups that run and play hard and he's out there with them running around. Though he's not as fast and he doesn't play long, he is about to run again, and you can see how happy he is when he does run.These have been a lifesaver, I'm going to be adding the joint supplements to his daily to see if he gets a little more relief.Read the back, and give according to directions, they have more than one a day, and with them being more natural than a pain pill, it won't hurt them if they need extra.

I have a senior dog who plays really hard. Sometimes she limps after. It makes her feel better in about 20mins. She is no longer stiff or limping. Be sure to read the weight chart in the back before giving it to your fur baby.

My aging spaniel-setter has definitely started getting creaky in her last year or so, and as such we have been trying out a number of supplements to help her hips and shoulder - which have bothered her the most that we can tell.

This product is mild, but when taken regularly (2-4 pills a day) seems to make a difference in that we get less protesting about daily activities - getting up to go potty, get on the bed, etc. - and less groaning when she lies there, feeling not so good. Now she isn't constantly groaning in pain, if she were we would look to professional methods, but she has good and bad days sometimes according to something like a rainstorm or cold night.

Something I would like to note is that we have been giving her these for over a year now, and at one point I had bought a bulk supply to have on hand, since the price was right. Our dog gobbled those up like they were liver snaps. She came to look excited to hear the rattle of the bottle (same as most dogs do with the crinkle of a wrapper) and would crunch and then swallow these treats.

The last batch we got had a slightly different bottle, and the pill was slightly more contoured (I think), and well, she heard the rattle, sat down excitedly, took the pill in her mouth and promptly spat it out. My dog is not terribly picky. Never has been. So I got out another to see if that one was "bad" and she spat that one out, too. Since I had gotten a couple bottles I thought, "Maybe I got a bad one..." and popped open the second one, handed her one of the pills and PATOOEY! She spit it out.

I don't have the old bottle to compare what difference they made to these pills as to make them less palatable, if anything. I mean, perhaps my dog decided they were suddenly gross, since it isn't as though I can ask her, "Hey, lady, you just tired of these now?". At any rate, we have a workaround that allows us to feed these to her for the pain reduction, and it is to crunch one or two up with each of her two daily meals. Since her meals are regular, and also have good kibble, a smooshed liver snap treat and water - basically to make sure she ALWAYS wants to eat as she has diabetes and needs to eat so she can have shots at certain intervals - she basically gobbles it all right up with this method.

So, again, I don't know what the manufacturer did recently to possibly make these less palatable, but it was enough to make me create this review and to deduct a single star. That said, if your dog is okay with these, or you can also get around the taste being bad by adding them to other treats or meals, this is a good product to help manage old dog creaks and pains.

UPDATE 07/27/2016: We just resupplied and inexplicably our pooch will eat these by hand again. I still find it convenient to leave the bottle by our "din-din" area with all her supplements and I just mash it up and she eats it along with her kibble, pumpkin/cranberry concoction, glucosamine/chondroitin and vitamin C. Also wanted to add, this stuff works. It especially works if fed like a supplement - a small but regular dose every day. When we don't give her this for awhile, we notice she will eventually get creaky and grunty again. Add it back to the mix and within a week or so she is right as rain again. I like that it is a bit more natural/gentle than getting a synthetic pain pill from the vet.

My husband and I and our little family, are so grateful and thankful for this product!!!🙏 Our precious, boy Zekey hurt his back legs when we went on our most recent little hike. It was only about 2 miles but our Zekey boy has never liked going on long walks. Even though mommy has always tried and makes him go on walks for his exercise, he would much rather stay at home lol He is our rescue buddy, and he has come such a long way since we brought him home to us!! He also has bowed legs and he has always struggled with sore legs after his walks, but nothing like this most recent event! When we got back from our hike, he slowly started to decline to the point that he couldn’t even stand on his back legs!! I stayed up with him all night because he was in so much pain crying and he had to keep moving! It literally broke my heart!!! I called his vet and left a vm to call us as soon as they opened, and I immediately started researching at home remedies for OTC pain meds for pups!! As a nurse, I knew that we would have to pay to see the vet and they would probably want an x-ray, and I didn’t want to put my baby through all of that if we didn’t have to! I searched for same day delivery on pain relief, and after reading these great reviews, I thought maybe our baby will be one of these success stories, and sure enough he is!!!! I took off work and waited all day for this stuff to come! The vet couldn’t even see him until the next day! He got his first dose the next afternoon…shortly after we could clearly see that he is feeling more like his self again! It was helping with his pain! He got the next dose that night and he has since had two more doses today!! We followed the dose recommended which is 2 tabs, twice a day! We no longer have to carry him outside to potty and he is now bearing weight on both legs!! I know that the fact that maybe letting some time pass helped him but this stuff clearly made a difference, and helped our baby feel better!! We are so beyond grateful and thankful! We have never seen our baby in pain like that before so I was going to do everything in our power to make him better! We’re so happy we found this! I also bought puppy aspirin but we haven’t even had to use it yet, and I put Arnicare gel on his legs which you have to make sure your baby doesn’t ingest! We will be keeping this medication in our arsenal and we are truly thankful! Our little buddy says thank you!

He also has bowed legs and he has always struggled with sore legs after his walks, but nothing like this most recent event! When we got back from our hike, he slowly started to decline to the point that he couldn’t even stand on his back legs!! I stayed up with him all night because he was in so much pain crying and he had to keep moving! It literally broke my heart!!! I called his vet and left a vm to call us as soon as they opened, and I immediately started researching at home remedies for OTC pain meds for pups!! As a nurse, I knew that we would have to pay to see the vet and they would probably want an x-ray, and I didn’t want to put my baby through all of that if we didn’t have to! I searched for same day delivery on pain relief, and after reading these great reviews, I thought maybe our baby will be one of these success stories, and sure enough he is!!!! I took off work and waited all day for this stuff to come! The vet couldn’t even see him until the next day! He got his first dose the next afternoon…shortly after we could clearly see that he is feeling more like his self again! It was helping with his pain! He got the next dose that night and he has since had two more doses today!! We followed the dose recommended which is 2 tabs, twice a day! We no longer have to carry him outside to potty and he is now bearing weight on both legs!! I know that the fact that maybe letting some time pass helped him but this stuff clearly made a difference, and helped our baby feel better!! We are so beyond grateful and thankful! We have never seen our baby in pain like that before so I was going to do everything in our power to make him better! We’re so happy we found this! I also bought puppy aspirin but we haven’t even had to use it yet, and I put Arnicare gel on his legs which you have to make sure your baby doesn’t ingest! We will be keeping this medication in our arsenal and we are truly thankful! Our little buddy says thank you!

this stuff works. but you have to follow directions and give as bottle says. the only con of this supplement is the pineapple smell. My old pal has a nose out of this world, and I can't hide it in anything, He smells the pineapple. which he hates. luckily, I have syringes, so I mix it and give it to him that way. will I buy again, NO! I need something meat flavored to make it better for the both of us. but it might be ok for others just not my baby.

I bought this for my 14 YO weenie dog that had been having trouble getting around. After trying a chewable from the vet ($50) that didn’t work, I found this. After one dose I could tell a difference. After the 2nd dose he was back to normal. The dosage for his size is half a pill twice a day. I’ve cut back to just half a pill a day bc he is doing so well. I would definitely recommend this!!
