This book is not a stand-alone book. That said it you like the series it was a very entertaining book. My only issue was the ending. It came to soon. All I can say without ruining the book. Really good I hope the series makes more of the Western Hemisphere books.

Nicely put together. Not as tightly plotted as some Ring of Fire but still a pleasant read. It would be fun to see what happens to these characters.

The narrator, a young Pequod Indian carried to Europe by a kindly Englishman, is intelligent, observant, and resourceful. He determines to take the Word of God and European medicine back to his tribe and as many others as possible. I kept expecting to flinch at proselytizing, but the book remained on the tolerant side. The narrator believes so strongly in a loving and faithful God that he doesn't need to harangue. A most enjoyable addition to the series, with some amusing references to previous escapades.

Weak member of the extensive Ring of Fire series. The premise of the story is interesting but the author does little with it.

Another excellent entry into the world of the Ring of Fire. I look forward to reading more about the exploits of Eliezae, Arrow, and Thunder, and their quest to preempt the massacre and destruction of the First Nations. I've always wondered what a world with modernized First Nations could look like.

I enjoyed this portrayal of a Grantville-trained Pequod convert to Christianity settling on the Hudson River near West Point, planning to set up a blacksmith's forge, a print shop using Tecumseh's Cherokee alphabet for Bibles, and a clinic to vaccinate for smallpox, in order to keep the Native Americans from being decimated by European settlers.

For those who know the sad story of Squanto, this could have been how his generosity and loving spirit could have rightfully been repaid. Our nation is in many ways based on the ideas of the Iroquois. Imagine how much better a nation we would have been if the Iroquois had survived as an allied nation to show us the way. This story does so with Green Star becoming a much more successful Squanto.

Very well written, great character developments, and plots including spirituality, romance, and great action. I also must add how cleverly the plots of the other books of the new world were interwoven. Thank you.

2.0 out of 5 stars I wanted a story not a religious tracht

I didn't even get half way through this book and decided to bin it. It was beginning to read like an evangelical sermon. This might be fine for a US readership but, as a British non-religious person, it was degenerating into complete pain in the arse.
