I purchased this book because I had been taking the AAMC practice tests and getting poor scores on the verbal sections. I concluded that it was my main weak point. I had been studying from the examkrackers box set and the kaplan book. 1/2 way through my studying, I ditched the kaplan book and went to examkrackers exclusively because I felt they were far more accurate about what the real MCAT would test and what knowledge I had to memorize and what would be given to me in a passage. So with that I had faith in examkrackers and purchased this book. It was far above my expectations. It provided 15 60 minute practice exams which I took under timed conditions. It also had comprehensive answer explanations and advice on how to tackle different types of questions. I took a practice verbal twice a week and by the end of the book, I was scoring 11&12 on the AAMC verbal sections and managing my timing perfectly. When I took the real MCAT, they were the accurate on all accounts and I finished the MCAT with confidence. Definetely worth the investment

MCAT is a horrendous exam, and everyone who is taking it is well-aware of that.
Unfortunately, there is also relatively little resources for the verbal section, especially for a three-time test taker myself. Once you exhaust your resources for the MCAT verbal, it is essentially impossible to "study" for the verbal as you can't simply reuse any of the passages.
This book provides the best resources for the verbal section, as it is very similar to the ones on the actual exam. I do suggest, for anyone looking to use this product, to ensure that their score is steadily increasing with each time you practice, as if you use up all the exams and have never made an increase, it is a pure waste. Make sure that your strategies are efficient after the third or fourth test to ensure that you get the maximal benefits! GOOD LUCK!

It's hard to replicate the actual MCAT but I was happy with the book and thought it offered great practice opportunity. No real issues but sometimes I felt like the questions/correct answers weren't always extremely well done...I remember thinking I could have convinced the author to change a couple answers, etc...but I was in cram mode and just kept moving on to the next one, so maybe I'm wrong on that. The passages were about right though and the important thing is that you practice your critical reading.
This was my only source of strict verbal practice so I can't compare it to another similar product. It didn't seem like there was much else on the market, but don't forget you can probably do some practice with the verbal passages from a GRE practice book, for example...something to look into if you have time. Anyway I was happy with my score and I think this book helped!

This book includes many many practice passages for you to do. I think that is the key to scoring well on verbal is to practice a lot. The MCAT does not really test how good at "verbal reasoning" you are, but just how good you are at deciphering the convoluted questions they throw at you. It's kind of like having a crazy, passive-aggressive roommate that decides to get pissed off at random things, but you just have to be around them a while to learn how to deal with them. Practice makes perfect!
Using this book worked for me because I was able to improve my score from a 9 to an 11 in the course of using this book. I scored an 11 in verbal on the actual MCAT.

This book was a pretty great resource of practice passages for the verbal section

This book was a pretty great resource of practice passages for the verbal section. I took an MCAT class from Kaplan but found the verbal sections provided were not as similar to the real MCAT as I desired. I was highly recommended to purchase this book in order to get a greater feel for the type of passages/questions to the AAMC versions, which turned out to be generally true. In the end, I find that the verbal section of the MCAT to be the one that requires the most practice in order to situate oneself to the style of the verbal section and this proved to be a wonderful resource.

I recommend this book to everybody I know who wants to take the MCAT. Everybody. But I had a very good experience, I improved my verbal reasoning score by 3 points after using this book. Why did it work for me? Because it made practice over and over again until I got the hang of it. The questions aren't perfect, but for me it wasn't so much about content as it was about being exposed to verbal reasoning passages. In my opinion, succeeding in this section requires a specific mindset more than a specific set of skills, and I believe that this book helps the student achieve that by simply immersing him in practice passages.

My verbal skills are next to lacking, and this book helped me score a 9 (I also used Kaplan's comprehensive guide), while I was only making 4-6s in practice before reading this. The fact that this book gives you so many passages to work on (with answers in the back) makes it effective. I completed the whole book in a week, about 2 weeks before my exam, and it really puts your mind in the correct testing mode.

This is the best book you need to study for this section on the MCAT. The logic and the application tested here is very close to the MCAT logic and reasoning. This was great even for the new MCAT 2015.

I've found getting the timing down for Verbal is the hardest part, and with 14 full 1 hour tests, it really gives you a lot of practice, helpful insight and lets you see where you stand on the 1-15 scale.

Very Useful

I purchased this book and utilized it as my main source for verbal prep. Although I did not complete the book cover to cover I did find it useful for preparing myself for the verbal section of the MCAT.
I made sure to time myself while completing the practice passages so that I could get my timing down for the real thing.
I ended up achieving my goal for verbal on the real deal (>10).
