The only complaint I have about this book is the fact that there is no table of contents separating the chapters. You must either bookmark the chapter pages or click through pages until you arrive at the desired chapter.

I wrote this same review for his psychopharm book because it applies to this one as well.

I am a PMHNP student and I discovered Dr. Heldt’s Memorable Psychiatry videos when first studying for exams. I loved the videos so much that I felt compelled to get the psychiatry and psychopharm books. I LOVE them. His teaching style is so effortless and clear. It’s not necessarily a replacement for your course textbooks , but it makes the material much more tangible and palatable. And frankly, it’s not just his way of explaining concepts - he does so in a way that conveys a passion for psychiatry. His videos and the books makes me even more excited for my future career as a clinician.

The book is extensive yet reads like a novel . The language is very easy. It is extremely evidence based and very honestly mentions what works and what hardly works in treatment . It dispelled myths.
The young author is unbelievably competent and seems both an internist and neurologists in addition to being a practical clinical psychiatrist . Although the book has over 484 pages , it is easy and the best book on psychiatry for general practitioners .
The author obviously spent a lot of time working on this book . It is a masterpiece !!!

I got this because I love Memorable Psychopharmacology. But I have the electronic version of the psycohopharm book. I got the paperback copy of Memorable Psych, and I regret it. There's no index. So, finding the diagnosis you want to read about can be difficult. For example, Wernicke/Korsakoff Syndrome is r/t alcohol use, but I couldn't find it when I was studying SUD. I came across it once I was studying dementia because it's discussed as a differential. I could go on, but you get the idea. So, I recommend the book but NOT the paperback. At least with the electronic format, you can ctrl-F and find what you need when you need it.
