Chronic inflammation is a low-grade, non-healing state that over time leads to tissue and organ degeneration. In common language, this means that your body is literally “rotting." I became familiar with Dr. Seaman's material several years ago and put his diet and supplement recommendations into practice at age 50 when I began to experience finger joint pain. Combined with increased chiropractic care, the finger joint pain slowly went away and has not bothered me in 10 years. In addition, I slowly lost over 20 lbs and believe I am healthier at 61 then I was in my late 40s. Dr. Seaman explains, very well, in layman's terms, the dietary factors that create inflammatory biochemistry and why evidenced based supplements enhance the effect anti-inflammatory diet.

Kind of hard to read. Too much science technical terms. I love science but not just letters as abbreviations of the looong name do what for where? Huh? I’m struggling to read it which is my fault too. Another person might do fine. I 100% believe food makes us inflamed. I’m also going with diets by blood type.

Lots of tech info here that clearly shows the pathways involved with joint degeneration. Maybe a bit technical for the average person, but if you are interested in the science behind the rant... Seaman does deliver.

I'm sold. There's a lot of information about why my diet is making me miserable. But now, what do I do with this information? The author did an excellent job of teaching me that the foods I eat are making me sick. I know that sugar and wheat are bad and that vegetables are good. Now I need more information. The book should be named the INFLAME DIET because that's what the author teaches. I didn't learn the DEFLAME DIET.

Well written, broken into very readable chapters with citations at end of each chapter. Author very knowledgeable and with keen insight into the subject. I will utilize this book in my healthcare practice and recommend it to my patients.

This books gives DETAILS of the science behind Seaman's theory, BUT, the book is titled The DeFlame DIET to ... and there simply IS no diet beyond the advice to stop eating inflammatory foods, like sugar, flour, and omega-6 fats.

I could only purchase ONE of his books, and thought because this one had the word DIET, it included at least a summary of his dietary instructions. I don't consider "stop eating inflammatory foods, like sugar, flour, and omega-6 fats" to be sufficient summary or advice.

He also opens and closes with the same "real life example" of a man eating McD's burgers daily to lose weight and get his body back on track, followed both times with the caveat NOT to do this as the McD burgers do not fit within his mandate to "stop eating inflammatory foods, like sugar, flour, and omega-6 fats". Yet he uses it as an example. If he has no better example, he certainly should not have used this one once, much less twice, as bookends for the opening and closing of his book.

Solid science, but I already knew all of these details, having a health and science background. I wanted some of this info to see his foundational theory, AND specific dietary advice on how to fix things, even if it was only a concise summary of his DeFlame Diet book. Sadly, the concise summary was lacking other than "stop eating inflammatory foods, like sugar, flour, and omega-6 fats."

If you do not have a keen interest in biology and nutrition and basic working knowledge of these subjects at a college level, you likely would not enjoy this book at all. For his dietary advice, "stop eating inflammatory foods, like sugar, flour, and omega-6 fats" is all that's in here.

A disappointing purchase, overall.

So the book has something that hit home...he had a patient who weighed 250 lbs and wanted to go to 200 lbs.....but he ate a double cheese burger every day in Am....So he kept eating the cheeseburger but ate only fruit and 150 calories the rest of the day....he went down to 200 lbs....You life does not have to radically change....i stopped eating breakfast sandwiches and replaced with a apple and a bagel....different was 850 calorie reduction......stopped fast food entirely......gone is the inflammation in my leg called fascia......loss of 12 lbs in first two weeks......i keep going back and re reading to help me discipline my days....its a great book.....recently diagnosed with Diabetes Hi BP and 73 years old....these steps will go along ways to bringing me back to where i want to be

Sein erstes Buch, The Deflame Diet war sorgfältig geschrieben und hat gute Einsichten vermittelt. Dieses hier ist eher als Recycling und Fortsetzung zu sehen. in einigen Spekten gibt es Ergänzungen.
