The editorial board and the authors of this book are literally the who's who of US Contract Law. But, none of them has read this book. It is absolutely shocking!!!
The book is full of typos and substantive errors. The selection of cases is astonishing. For example, take the one case the book has on misrepresentation. Poor selection, given it deals with a very obscure point. The case itself has been criticized as wrong.
The holding in so many of the cases is not actually explained. You'll often find yourself reading 5 pages of fact and 1 paragraph explaining the court's reasoning. There are times when you can read the case multiple times and be completely lost and 30 seconds on Westlaw or even Wikipedia will explain everything. For example try pages 386-390.
If you are contemplating buying this book, it is because you are a law student. Please go to your professor and tell him/her to prescribe a different book. I could not do this myself, because my professor is the leading (surviving) author of the book.
This book is in its seventh edition and I'm told an eighth edition is on its way. I can't imagine what previous editions were like. The authors and the editorial board should really own up and take a fresh look at this book.
P.S. Please note that most positive reviews of this book are actually positive reviews of the seller for shipping the book on time and etc.
