As a teacher of Saxon Math on an Indian reservation and at a predominantly white Seattle, WA, elementary school, I am a huge proponent of its traditional, yet unique design, for teaching concepts incrementally and with constant repetition. My students zoomed to success in both places. I now tutor Saxon Math at the local Catholic School and in my own Academy. I've also written the original biography of John Saxon that explains why his program works so well for all groups of students.

As parents, we needed something to help us support our son that wouldn't take every hour of every evening! The Solutions Manual allows us to check his daily work, showing us how answers were arrived at so we can not only help him get the right answer, but show him to to properly arrive at the answer. I would definitely recommend it.

The manual is extremely helpful but there are incorrect answers in many of the lessons.
I like how it shows how to work each problem. I have my child do her math assignment, then I look at her answers and compare which answers are not the same as in the answer book. The answers that are not the same are then further investigated and we determine which are incorrect in the answer book and which ones my child missed.
Even though there are some incorrect answers in the solutions manual, I would not be able to help my child without it.

This manual is quite frustrating. There are errors in it everywhere. Not small errors. HUGE ones. The question may as for an amount in dollars. The answer will be how many Serfs were conscripted (seriously, see written practice 64 # 6, or practice 63 #3, the answer they give is brachiopods when the question is asking about dress shoes) I don't know where the editor was but my child could have done a far better job just letting them know they were not even solving for the problem written in the book. This happens nightly. It causes much confusion with us all. Good luck if you need to have this, you will be solving and editing their mistakes nightly as you go through the lessons.
