Craig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a beautiful home, and a successful media career. A director of several companies & at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Craig was a successful & functioning professional man in spite of a ‘2 bottles of wine a night’ drinking habit. For 20 years he struggled with problem drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn't believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed. He tried countless ways to cut down; attempting ‘dry months,’ banning himself from drinking spirits, only drinking at the weekend & special occasions (and found that it is amazing how even the smallest of an event can suddenly become ‘special’). All these 'willpower' based attempts to stop drinking failed (exactly as they were destined to do). Slowly he discovered the truth about alcohol addiction & one by one all the lies he had previously believed started to fall apart. For the first time, he noticed that he genuinely didn’t want to drink anymore. In this book, he will lead you through the same fantastic process. The Craig Beck quit drinking method is unique: No need to declare yourself an alcoholic. A permanent cure, not a lifetime struggle. No group meetings or expensive rehab. No humiliation, no pain and 100% no ‘willpower’ required. Treats the source of the problem, not just the symptoms. What people are saying about ‘Alcohol Lied To Me’:“I was so excited to find your method. I had never seen anything quite like it so of course I enthusiastically purchased it. I have to say I was blown away by the unique frankness. It REALLY hits home in a very good way. It's as if a very caring, non-judgemental friend can see right through me in a way that can only be known by someone who's been through it all. I am incredibly grateful to have found your book and your logical genius. Thanks from DP (Arizona, U.S.A)”www.StopDrinkingExpert.com

A breath of fresh air when it comes to dealing with alcohol addiction

A breath of fresh air when it comes to dealing with alcohol addiction
So very enlightening. It’s like someone was telling me what my whispering conscience was telling me for years. I never listened to that whisper because it conflicted with what society pounds into our brains every day. That is, that it’s okay to anesthetize yourself with alcohol. Alcohol “the drug” destroys people’s lives in so many ways. I’ve been sober over a month and listening to Craig’s common sense approach to dealing with alcohol addiction was my turning point. I tried AA and it didn’t work for me either. I almost lost hope. This was just what I needed. Thanks

I read tons of alcohol and drug memoirs, the Big Book, and books on how to stop drinking as I have for 23 years. I tried AA, willpower, and other things but never understood or had heard of the concept of the ego doing anything to avoid pain. There was a lot of science in this book which I appreciated. Overall, I think this is a useful book for anyone who would like to stop drinking. If you read about Audrey Kishline, the founder of "Moderation Management" you will find out it never worked for her, she killed a father and a child in a drunk driving accident, and eventually killed herself. Food for thought.

I don't know why it was THE book, Ive read so many quit lit books. Maybe I was just ready to leave it all behind, but this book was funny and filled with so much common sense........i mean why are we putting ethanol in our system anyway, like our gas tank? Poison! Hope it will turn on some lights for others too. The freedom you gain from being alcohol free is worth everything.

There are some good points made in this book. I appreciate that Craig does not go on abou the value of AA and he also does not take a religious stance. But he spends a lot of time saying the same things over and over again, one of the most significant of which is, When you're done reading this book you're going to agree with me that alcohol tastes terrible, that it's a harmful poison, and that there's really no good reason to drink. Apparently a number of people have found this approach useful but I don't.

I will say, though, that I do appreciate the overall sentiment throughout the book that alcohol's primary appeal is a result of massive amounts of money spent on marketing and advertising. One of the best angles he takes is like this: Someone asked me what I should do when I go to a social gathering and I can't drink. My response is, well, what do you do when you go to a social gathering and you can't shoot heroin? Placing alcohol in the same class as other mind-altering substances that are more universally accepted to be highly dangerous makes a lot of sense.

Truthfully, I was a little taken aback at the beginning, as the ideas seemed so strange at first, I had to tell myself to hold my horses and wait with the judgment to the end. I promised to myself that no matter what I will read this book cover to cover.
Firstly, I saw only differences between me and the author - different attitude towards alcohol, different problem, different home situation... I happened to live in UK for many years and I know several people with exactly the same problem as this guy. But not me. I was different.
And then, somewhere in the middle of the book, I couldn't lie to myself anymore. I had to admit that alcohol was in fact a poison and that it was a highly addictive one, too. No matter what you do, you get addicted to it eventually. It can take years or decades, but if you persist and regularly consume alcohol, it will be more and more difficult to quit. When faced with those facts, I knew I had no other choice but to quit it, which I did. I followed the steps in the book and haven't touched the alc for 2 months now. But more importantly I do not feel the sense of deprivation at all. Instead, I feel that I have finally given myself the freedom that I always deserved - the freedom to wake up with hangover-free mind. The freedom to feel ok when driving to the parties. The freedom to speak when everyone at the party no longer can and finally the freedom to put into my body what truly nourishes it and not a posion.
Do I recommend this book? Sure thing. But it will not be easy to face the facts. One last remark - if you decide to purchase it, I suggest you read it cover to cover, no matter what.
Edit: it's now 2019 and I'm still off alcohol. I've managed to continue my social life quite well, don't feel socially excluded at all. In fact I enjoy the parties even more now that I'm conscious all the way through ;)
