Healing Schizoaffective Paperback – May 4, 2016

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 57 ratings

Healing Schizoaffective is a gritty and real portrayal of life with mental illness, and evidence that healing is possible. If you or a loved one is suffering with mental illness, this book is for you! If you are a mental health care worker, and would like an inside view from someone who suffered with a mental illness, and to see how healing is possible, this book is also for you. Break through stigmas, and see mental illness from a whole new perspective!

The intention of this book can be seen in the following journal entry written during the illness: "It's what I have learned from my experience that motivates me to keep going. I know that someday, and even today in little ways, I can use what I've been through to help people. That's the greatest gift. I don't look at this disorder as something I have to bear. I look at it as something that can inspire me to live a better life."

This book is a personal story of a man dealing with schizoaffective disorder and sharing his journey in order to impart wisdom on others suffering from the disorder. He explains his journey regarding prescription medication and then finally his switch to homeopathic remedies. This is a book that supports the natural healing products out there in the world today. Written in a manner that captivates and is deeply personal. Great read.

Though this is Joshua’s Journey of healing, this book is one of the BEST self help book I have ever read. Beautiful mind, heart and soul. Well written and articulated. Thank you for sharing your journey.

Amazing! A well-written, honest, heart-felt story (easy/quick read). A guide to help those with mental illness, as well those without. A self-help book which will serve as a guide towards a more positive, spiritual, happy life. A tale of courage; a journey through hell and back; with a happy ending! All staff/mental health workers/doctors/nurses/aides/all health workers would learn and grow from this read, as well as people not in the field. I hope to hear and see more from Mr. Joshua Alexander!

I actually know Joshua, and have witnessed his amazing transformation first hand. This book is proof that healing is possible without the use of hardcore medications that carry a host of nasty side effects, sometimes worse than the conditions they treat. What he has discovered is truly a miracle. This book is a must read and needs to be shared with others.

All the reviews when I purchased this booklet were glowing, so I was extremely disappointed when this book failed miserably. If you are looking for information to help someone, look elsewhere. There is no cure here. How he "beat it" was by flying across the country to see a homeopathic doctor, who then prescribed a homeopathic remedy for him. No mention of what was in this remedy, nor was there mention of any tests this homeopathic doctor ran to determine what to give him. There are thousands, if not millions, of homeopathic remedies. How is the right one chosen? You won't find that answer in this little book. I feel like he is saying that he found a cure, but nope, he's not going to share it with anyone else.

This book was also lacking insight as to what it feels like to experience this. A few symptoms were mentioned in detail, but that is all. The rest was very vague.

Honestly, if you are searching for any titles even similar to this one, you are either into natural cures, or more likely you are searching because someone you care about is dealing with this. You are looking for hope. You are looking for a cure. You are looking to better understand. Look elsewhere, because you will be as disappointed as I was.

I loved this book...I didn't want to put it down, but because of the demands of life, I read it in (3) three days...the person that wrote this book is my loving and amazing nephew...it takes a lot of courage to write a book like this...and he did it...he truly is an inspiration for others out there dealing with mental illness...the way this book was written in detail could literally save someone's life; that's dealing with this issue...

Very easy read. I was interested in finding out how Josh was able to get off of his medication as he talks about in his YouTube video. I was disappointed to find that he had to fly to California to see a homeopath which was able to treat his symptoms. Also he does not talk about how other schizoaffective people can do the same thing if psychiatry refuses to allow the replacement of psychiatric drugs with homeopathy. He seems to be the exception but he has bravely described his illness and how badly he was affected. Glad he shared his story but disappointed he could not describe a way to get those in psychiatry to accept their patients seeking homeopathy instead of current drugs being prescribed.

This book was amazing. Kudos to the author for sharing his story. Sharing your personal story is not always easy because there is a high stigma and label attached to coming out. It was very brave and most helpful. This book makes you feel like your not alone. It also takes the stigma away from mental illness only applying itself to low-income or people who are on the system. Thank you so much for the other perspective. This book really opened my mind to so much more now.

Dear Joshua my sons name is Joshua also he is 35 today l was 61, 3 weeks ago. I love my son so much but its really taking a toll on my own health. He was diagnosed with schizoeffective disorder at 27 though signs were there some yrs prior. I am so grateful that you were willing to open your heart as so much you shared is very relatable to my son only hes more stubborn in admitting hes sick at all though last week l did finally get him to admit he had brain damage like you were he is so hostile angry at health services though he thinks he is a super hero as well and he thinks he hears his step dad or myself say awful things to him when we never would. Other than that l feel blessed l having a very caring relationship with him. I believe you found some important answers to alternatives for psychosis other than all the same medications you both have had to experience l honestly think you are such a awesome person lm deeply grateful for your book and all you shared.
I hope everything is continuing to go well for you in your life in all areas.
I hope your marriage is strong and l want you to know l will be praying for you and your family as it is now sept 2020 COVID19 and many other things are sending our world quite unbalanced.
