'Lessons from the Pack' is a joyous read from start to finish. Presented by Cesar Millan and his co-writer, Melissa Jo Peltier, this book takes you back to how The Dog Whisperer found his calling in life. Starting off with a farm dog named Paloma that Millan observed on his grandfather's farm in Mexico, a young Cesar seemed to already envision a future with dogs. From there we start seeing how dogs shaped him from his adolescence in Mazatlan to his struggles adapting to life in the United States and opening his Dog Psychology Center, and, from there,to become the Dog Whisperer that would be seen on television.

The dogs that Cesar encountered over these many years have impacted him in many different ways and taught him valuable life lessons. He goes onto to say how each dog has taught him admirable qualities that can be found in a dog's innocence, such as resilience and acceptance. Though Millan has shown love for all the dogs he talks about and trains, none have been more special to him that his relationship with Daddy, the pit bull Millan adopted from Redman back in the 90's, who would go on to become Millan's spiritual ally and friend. His stories of Daddy make for some heart-warming reading. Cesar and Peltier, throughout the book, share with us some important scientific studies that were conducted through many years of research from various doctors and experts, as well as joyful anecdotes from celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld, Kesha and Jada Pinkett Smith explain the ways their own dogs have taught them the joys of unconditional love and happiness.

I'm very honored to have this book a part of my home library, and I hope you make it yours. Perhaps reading about Millan's life and the lives of the dogs he has come across will enrich and enlighten you.

I really enjoy Cesar Millan. His books are wonderful, encouraging, easy to read. This one was particularly interesting in that it shares stories from his own life and how training dogs really helped him learn lessons for his own life. I've always felt that his theories re:dogs parallel human life. Also really appreciated his clarifications about word choices he uses that often annoy Americans, such as sumbission and dominance and discipline. I have understood what he means, but in this book he shares more about why these words are not 'bad words' ! Well done.

I didn't know what to expect, but I never thought I would been taken too such levels of self-reflection. This book has helped enrich my view on my interactions with people, dogs, and even myself. This is actually the first "self-help" book that I've ever been able to finish and it has made a difference in my thought processes that I never expected. I love the Dog Whisperer and all of Cesar's shows, and try to emulate his methodology as I've seen on TV, but to now understand his thoughts, emotions, and the connections he makes with dogs, I honestly feel like I can be a better person and not just a better dog companion. Thank you Cesar.

I love watching Cesar’s programs and I love his attention to making sure people realise the importance of having dogs in their lives. Even though I have had many dogs in my life I still learned a lot from reading this book.

I have read a number of Cesar's books but this one was a little bit different in that it was about Cesar himself but also how a number of dogs in his life had influenced him. I'm a great Cesar Millan follower so really enjoyed this book.

Different than his usual style, doesn't write about his way of dealing with traumatized dogs, but mainly about what dogs have taught him over the year, and what we all could and should learn from them too.
