Brian Kurtz is the bridge connecting the bedrock fundamentals of direct response marketing to the state-of-the-art strategies, tactics, and channels of today. Overdeliver distills his expertise from working in the trenches over almost four decades to help readers build a business that maximizes both revenue and relationships.

Marketing isn't everything, according to Brian Kurtz.
It's the
only thing.
If you have a vision or a mission in life, why not share it with millions instead of dozens?
And while you are sharing it with as many people as possible and creating maximum impact, why not measure everything and make all of your marketing
accountable?
That's what this book is all about.

In the world of direct marketing, Brian Kurtz has seen it all and done it all over almost four decades. And he lives by the philosophy, "Those who did it have a responsibility to teach it." Here's a small sample of what you'll learn:

• The 4 Pillars of Being Extraordinary

• The 5 Principles of why "Original Source" matters

• The 7 Characteristics that are present in every world class copywriter

• Multiple ways to track the metrics that matter in every campaign and every medium, online and offline

• Why customer service and fulfillment are marketing functions

• That the most important capital you own has nothing to do with money

• And much more

Whether you're new to marketing or a seasoned pro, this book gives you a crystal-clear road map to grow your business, make more money, maximize your impact in your market, and love what you're doing while you're doing it. Kurtz takes you inside the craft to help you use all the tools at your disposal--from the intricate relationship between lists, offers, and copy, to continuity and creating lifetime value, to the critical importance of multichannel marketing and more--so you can succeed wildly, exceed all your expectations, and overdeliver every time.

About the Author

Brian Kurtz has been a serial direct marketer for almost 40 years and never met a medium he didn't like . . . and while he's had much success, he also must admit that trying to sell subscriptions and books on the back of ATM receipts and under yogurt lids were only a "good idea at the time."

As a key business builder at Boardroom Inc. with founder Martin Edelston, Brian worked with, and was mentored by, many of the top marketers and copywriters who have ever lived. Today he consults and works directly with bleeding-edge direct response marketing companies and entrepreneurs in a wide variety of categories and in all channels through his two mastermind groups, Titans Mastermind and Titans Master Class (and soon to be a third, Titans Xcelerator). He also publishes books and materials for direct response marketers and writes and speaks regularly at marketing and copywriting events.

The only thing Brian loves more than direct marketing is his family.

And umpiring baseball is right up there with direct marketing.

Brian Kurtz has been a serial direct marketer for almost 40 years and never met a medium he didn't like...and while he's had much success, he also must admit that trying to sell subscriptions and books on the back of ATM receipts and under yogurt lids was only "a good idea at the time..."

Brian left his beloved Boardroom in January of 2015. Over 34 years he was responsible for the mailing of close to 2 billion pieces of direct mail in his career (and he did NOT lick every stamp!); and he was also responsible for the distribution of millions of other impressions and promotions in a wide variety of alternate media, both offline and online, using the most innovative direct marketing techniques while working with the most legendary copywriters and consultants who have ever lived.

Under Brian's marketing leadership and during his tenure, Boardroom’s revenues went from approximately $5 million (in 1981) to a high of over $150 million (in 2006).

Brian was instrumental in building Boardroom’s print and electronic newsletters, including Bottom Line/Personal, Bottom Line/Health, Bottom Line Secrets and Daily Health News.

And he was also responsible for selling tens of millions of books, mostly in the categories of health and finance, for consumers.

His mission for the next 40 years (as the Founder of “Titans Marketing”), is to be the bridge between the eternal truths of direct response marketing and all that is considered state-of-the-art direct response marketing today. And to make sure everyone he works with understands the complexities and the need to be multi-channel.

In September of 2014, to kick off that mission, Brian hosted what has been called the event of the decade: "Titans of Direct Response."

"Titans” brought together the greatest minds in direct response marketing from the last 50 years...both as speakers and attendees.

Titans Mastermind and Titans Master Class (and soon to be Titans Xcelerator) are the next big steps in that mission.

Brian writes and speaks regularly; recent content can be found at www.briankurtz.net and www.briankurtz.net/blog. His first book, The Advertising Solution, was released in October of 2017. His second book, Overdeliver: Build a Business for a Lifetime Playing the Long Game in Direct Response Marketing was released in April of 2019.

But truth be told, Brian is really just a Little League Baseball Umpire and does this direct marketing stuff on the side. His ultimate goal is to umpire in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA while he is still upright...and he hopes it happens soon.

Direct marketing expert Brian Kurtz has encapsulated more than 35 years of experience in direct marketing, featuring highlights of his experiences working with publishing legend Martin Edelston to build Bottom Line, Inc. into a publishing powerhouse, in his new book, Overdeliver. As you'll discover when you read the book, Overdeliver isn't just about direct marketing, but is Brian's life philosophy.Brian's principal message in this book is, "Not everything we do in marketing (and in life) is a revenue event… but everything we do is a relationship event."According to Brian Kurtz, everything in marketing should be customer focused. Identifying hungry groups of customers willing to invest in solving problems and satisfying desires. Creating products and services to solve those problems and satisfy those desires. Delivering those products and services so well, including resolving complaints leaving customers with a good feeling, so that customers will love your business and want to continue patronizing your business for life, and won't be susceptible to the marketing messages of your competitors.Brian covers the original sources of direct marketing knowledge, how to measure the effectiveness of advertising and marketing messages, list building - including recency, frequency and monetary, creating irresistible offers, creative and copy, using multiple channels for your marketing, customer service and fulfillment, and continuity and long-term value.Keep your receipt when you buy the book. Brian really does Overdeliver by giving online bonuses when you buy the book, including videos from the "Titans of Direct Response" conference (I was there - a once in a lifetime event!), videos about business development by Jay Abraham, videos of a one-day conference featuring internet marketing guru Perry Marshall and Brian Kurtz, PDFs of out-of-print "original source" books, and much more. These materials are many times more valuable than the modest price of Overdeliver! Your receipt is your "golden ticket" to these bonuses. If you have any interest in marketing your business more effectively, you would be crazy not to grab and devour a copy of Overdeliver.

Usually with marketing books, or business books in general, you have a single idea that could be said in 10 pages that’s stretched out over 300 pages.

The authors of these “books” are writing them not because they have a pressing message that MUST be written, but rather they want to be seen as an expert in their field and so, a book doubles as a business card.

In other words, they’re more interested in getting speaking engagements rather than writing an excellent book.

And that’s what strange about Overdeliver. Unlike most business books that say hardly anything, Overdeliver compresses the collective wisdom and lessons of an entire industry into less than 300 pages (hardcover edition.)

It’s actually a book where every chapter is worth reading, where every page deserves to have notes taken from it, and where many off-handed comments made by the author are worth more than marketing courses that charge $1000+ dollars.

Overdeliver doesn’t feel crammed or rushed, but FULL. This is the book to buy if you need a definitive resource on direct marketing.

When I purchased it, I was worried that this book would just be a loose collection of Brian’s memories about his time working at Boardroom. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Instead of daydreaming about his career, Brian uses real-life examples to prove timeless principles that you have to apply to your own business if you want your marketing to work for you.

And what’s great about Overdeliver, is it goes beyond just marketing. It talks about all the aspects of business, even the more “mundane” parts that are still just as vital. While in other books these aspects can seem dull, in Brian’s Overdeliver, they are just as interesting to read about as the “sexy” marketing stuff.

As for the actual read itself, I had a great time. It was really fun to read, and as I moved through the book, I was constantly coming up with new ideas. One idea alone totally changed how I was going to launch a new info-business, for example.

Overdeliver is a full solution, a definitive guide. I wouldn’t be surprised if this book started being referred to as “the bible of direct response,” because that’s exactly what it is.

I’m a copywriter, and this book was really useful for me. I’d say it would be extremely valuable to other copywriters as well, and anyone who uses sales copy and direct marketing (e.g paid traffic online, email etc) to make money for their business.

You don’t have to rediscover the wheel of marketing if you’re in business. Brian’s already built a Ferrari and he’s giving you the keys.

Overall, it has my highest recommendation.

Wow... wow... wow... This book is incredible. I got through reading this book in 3 days because it is just that good.

In a world that is constantly pushing "make $1million tomorrow in your sleep" - or any other get rich quick scheme - this book is refreshing and thought-provoking.

Some of the strategies and tactics revealed in this book I've heard before, but Brian Kurtz breaks down the core principles of WHY they work so that you can apply them in other areas of your business.

This book is a masterclass on how to get rich slowly, how to operate from a place of depth vs width, and how to build relationship capital to ultimately make more money.

Here are the top 5 things I learned reading this book:
1.) The #1 reason why creating long-form content (copy/video) helps you make more money long term, even if they've only paid you $10 upfront. Unless you understand the psychology behind this principle, you wouldn't even notice how you're doing it wrong in your business.
2.) All paying clients are not equal - Why there's a BIG difference between a client who has only bought once from you and a client who has bought 3x from you. The one may seem obvious, but it's not what you think.
3.) Related to #2 - Segment your list and use customized language for each segment. In other words, STOP sending out mass emails that use the same language for everyone - raving fans, buyers, and nonbuyers
4.) The ripple effects of what happens when you create a "barrier to switch" for your customers/clients
5.) How easy it is to build "relationship capital" every single day with less than 5 minutes of thought and action

There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be reading this book at least once a year every year. It is an instant classic that you know will make you tons of money - long term.

O autor apresenta o "direct response marketing" e nos mostra como, mesmo hoje em dia, com todo o ambiente virtual que nos inunda, o bom marketing continua sendo trabalho segundo seus princípios mais essenciais.
Realmente me ajudou a repensar a forma como trabalho o marketing no meu negócio.

There are two types of marketing people in this world -- brand-centric marketers and direct response marketers. In this excellent book, Brian Kurtz lays out the case for why the first group should embrace the best practices of the second group. For example, lifetime value is the best measure of customer value...RFM is a time-proven strategy for comparing customers and their behaviours (and as a tool to interrupt a negative trend)... and the importance of identifying and tracking response by source. In addition, the book details many best practices of direct response marketers for non-direct marketers to emulate. Well worth the money and the reading time.
