Recently, as I rode the train from Los Angeles to Santa Fe, "A Walk in the Wood" was my read. Along with the delight in rediscovering my favorite Winnie the Pooh characters, I found each chapter gave me a new perspective on my journey—listening, seeing, touching, tasting, and being open to adventure. I love this book and read a chapter (they're very short, only a couple of pages) every morning. It's plain, simple, non-religious, down-to-earth and thoroughly enjoyable instruction on practicing staying in the moment when your mind wants to wander or whirl. I still overthink things and sometimes whirl, but I'm learning how to derail the negative energy and get back on track and centered. After a few months of consistent practice, I feel so much calmer and patient. It's made the perfect gift for my friends who, like me, tend to think too much and miss the moment.

This book when first viewed might seem childish. However it’s definitely not childish. It’s an easy to read format. A Pooh story with good medical info provided at the end of each chapter. If you never understood what mindfulness was or are just beginning a life of mindfulness this book is the one to read before any other. It’s simple & easy to read yet has notes provided by the author (who is also a doctor). It certainly helped me understand mindfulness in its easy and lighthearted tale. I recommend it if you’re just beginning mindfulness.
The price is about what you’d expect for a hardback book.

“A Walk in the Wood”, has brought more peace and joy into my walk in the wood. My life is a little lighter, a little happier, with more mindfulness, and less mind-fullness. I could consider this book a friend, as I keep it close and turn to it for inspiration. I use the word “book” lightly as it holds much more meaning. This is a perfect self purchase as well as a wonderful and thoughtful gift for someone special (or anyone for that matter). Sweet Pooh, as always, will guide you to a more fruitful beingness.

Perfect book to teach mindfulness to young or old. The Pooh part is great to read to children and introduce them to living in the present. The explanation is simple and complex but written in a way for anyone to understand. This is a book I will read whenever I need a reminder to be mindful of the here and now.
